With the NFL schedule announcements coming soon for the 2025 season, the Kansas City Chiefs want to become a permanent fixture on Christmas Day.

Chiefs Want To Play On Christmas

The Chiefs want to celebrate Christmas by playing football.

According to The Athletic, the Chiefs have requested to become a permanent fixture on Christmas Day.

The Chiefs have played the last two seasons on Christmas.

The Chiefs played the Raiders two seasons ago, and last year, they traveled to Pittsburgh and played the Steelers. The 2024 game was the NFL’s first regular-season game on Netflix.

Now, the Chiefs want to continue playing on Christmas, similar to how the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys always play on Thanksgiving Day.

The Athletic’s report believes the Chiefs will get their wish and play for a third consecutive year on Christmas Day.

With Christmas falling on a Thursday this year, the NFL will run a special triple-header.

The first two games will stream on Netflix, while the primetime game will air on Prime Video as part of Thursday Night Football.

Chiefs Will Likely Play Chargers In Brazil

The AFC West is rumored to be heading to Brazil.

The Los Angeles Chargers have been selected as the designated home team when the league returns to São Paulo, Brazil, in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season.

Per The Athletic, their opponent might be the Chiefs. Kansas City is the “No. 1 franchise in consideration” by the league to play the Chargers in Brazil.

The game will be played on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025. The game will be played at Corinthians Arena, the home of the soccer team SC Corinthians.

It’s the second consecutive season that the NFL will play a Friday night game in Brazil in Week 1. In 2024, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers in São Paulo.
