The San Francisco 49ers are in the midst of a drastic roster turnover, having parted ways with some of their key players this NFL off-season. We might be able to add wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to the list soon enough, as there are rumors that teams around the league are making offers for the 27-year-old wide receiver.

NFL Trade Rumors: Browns Interested In Brandon Aiyuk

It was less than 8 months ago when Aiyuk was demanding a new contract from the 49ers. He was coming off of his most productive season as a pro in 2023, as his 1,342 yards and 7 touchdowns earned him a Second Team All-Pro nod. His impressive numbers came at a low cost for San Francisco, given that he was still on his rookie contract, but that changed when he signed a four-year extension worth $120 million a week before the season started.

Aiyuk unfortunately had his season cut short due to injury. A torn ACL and MCL diagnosis ended his 2024 campaign after just seven games, joining the many other 49ers players who were shelved throughout the year.

But he wasn’t all that impressive in the games that he did participate in. His 53.4 yards per game average was the second-lowest figure of his NFL career, and he failed to find the end zone a single time. Aiyuk managed to drop four passes in just 47 targets, and caught a total of 25 balls all season long.

Given his expensive extension that kicks in this year and his lack of production in 2024, the 49ers may be answering calls from teams who are interested in trading for the wide receiver. One of those teams is the Cleveland Browns, according to Bleacher Report’s John Frascella.

On Sunday, Frascelle fired off a tweet that said that the Browns have been “pounding” the 49ers for the past week, looking for a deal that works. He added that it looks like they are in need of an elite wide receiver to pair with incoming rookie Shedeur Sanders.

Cleveland had plenty of holes to fill on its roster, but quarterback and wide receiver appear to be at the top of the list. They hold the rights to the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and have been rumored to be interested in both of the elite quarterback prospects at the top of this year’s board. The top wideout on their roster is Jerry Jeudy, and there is a steep dropoff in talent on the depth chart after that.

It is unclear what the 49ers’ asking price would be for someone like Brandon Aiyuk, but it will be a situation to monitor during the month leading up to April’s draft.
