NHL News: Carolina and Tampa Bay Game Postponed By Hurricane Milton Is Rescheduled
The Carolina Hurricanes vs. Tampa Bay Lightning NHL game scheduled for October 12, 2024, canceled because of Hurricane Milton has been rescheduled after hurricane season officially ends in the United States.
The Lightning will host the Hurricanes on January 7, 2025, at 7 PM EST.
Carolina is red-hot and atop the Metropolitan Division with a 13-4 record.
Tampa Bay is 9-6-1, trailing Florida and Toronto in the Atlantic Division.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are three-time Stanley Cup Champions with the most recent win (2021). However, the Carolina Hurricanes are looking to add one to the only Stanley Cup they have ever won in 2006.
This game of regional foes that have met in the playoffs was intended to be the home opener for Tampa Bay.
Rescheduling the postponed early-season game in Tampa to Jan. 7 splits up a five-game Hurricanes home stand, but it also is placed in the middle of a three-day break, so no back-to-back.
