During the opening six games of the Winnipeg Jets’ NHL Stanley Cup playoff series against the St. Louis Blues, forward Adam Lowry struggled. He showed up on time.

With Mark Scheifele out of the lineup for Sunday’s Game 7 at Canada Life Centre, Lowry, who generally lined up on the third line, moved to the second unit.  

After Cole Perfetti scored with three seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime, Lowry connected at 16:10 of the second overtime, sending the Jets to Round 2 against the Dallas Stars. Perfetti, who scored two goals Sunday, netted the latest game-tying goal in Game 7 history.  

“To be honest, I wasn’t really thrilled with how my series was going,” Lowry told TBS after the game. “I had a talk with (coach Jim Montgomery) after Game 6 and I told him, ‘I want to be an impact player.’ He said, ‘Keep stickin’ with it.’ ” 

“Thankfully, (members of the team) allowed me to redeem myself.” 

He did. In a big way.

X (Twitter) users responded to the Jets becoming the fifth team in Stanley Cup playoff history to rally from a multi-goal, third-period deficit to earn a Game 7 win. It only happened three times in the opening 106 years of the NHL, but it occurred on back-to-back nights after the Dallas Stars accomplished the feat by topping the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night … 

St. Louis’ Mathieu Joseph scored his first Stanley Cup marker one minute 10 seconds into the first period … 

With Jordan Kyrou scoring off an unassisted wrist shot 7:16 into the match, the Blues became the eighth-fastest team to score the opening two goals of a Game 7 … 

 Perfetti gave the Jets a tip it needed at 11:41 of the second period … 

 St. Louis’ Radek Faksa provided the Blues with their second two-goal lead with 24.1 remaining in the second period … 

Vladislav Namestnikov helped fuel the Jets’ rally with a goal 1:56 into the final frame …  

 With 3 seconds to go, Perfetti brought the Jets’ fans back to life … 

 Winnipeg’s fans displayed their winning emotions after Lowry’s marker, ending the third-longest Game 7 in NHL history …
