The price for Artemi Panarin has been established.

The starting point for NHL general managers to approach counterpart Chris Drury will be something similar to a first-round draft pick and two NHL-ready prospects. Or, perhaps, two top draft picks and a promising skater. Another player could be added to balance the books or provide AHL-level depth.

The Anaheim Ducks reportedly remain interested in Panarin. They entered Sunday in third place in the Pacific Division, five points behind the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Golden Knights executed a move Jan. 18 to solidify their defense, acquiring Rasmus Andersson from the rebuilding Calgary Flames.

The Ducks need a proven playmaker. The team’s goal differential fell to minus nine.

Last March, the New York Islanders dealt forwards Brock Nelson and William Dufour to the Colorado Avalanche for forward Calum Ritchie, defenseman Oliver Kylington, a 2026 first-round draft pick and 2028 third-round selection.

That appears to be the template for Drury to consider dealing Panarin, one of the franchise’s top all-time scorers.

A pending free agent this summer, Panarin reportedly wants at least a four-year contract extension in the $10-12 million per season range. He remains viewed by most league insiders as a spring rental.

The Ducks, who have two 2026 first-round draft picks, have the resources and approximately $11.8 million in 2025-26 salary cap space.

NHL rumors suggest they also have the urgency to execute a risky deal before the March 6 trade deadline.

 

NHL Trade Rumors: Ducks Want Artemi Panarin

Here are two top prospects the Ducks could include in a deal for Panarin:

  • Beckett Sennecke: The 2024 third-overall selection would present the Rangers with a highly-skilled teenager to help boost the roster “retool.” The rookie right winger continues to prove he belongs, skating top-line minutes with Alex Killorn and Mikael Granlund. In 51 games this season, Sennecke posted 15 goals among 38 points.
  • Pavel Mintyukov: The third-year defenseman has appeared in 177 games, collecting 15 goals and 46 assists. Thrown into the mix on a rebuilding squad in 2023-24, the 2022 10th overall selection recorded a minus-20 rating in 63 appearances. He is a minus-7 over his past 114 appearances.

The Rangers seek young talent and draft capital. They could acquire some by plucking from the Ducks’ ascending roster.
