NHL Trade Rumors: Artemi Panarin could be on the move very soon

The NHL Trade Deadline is at the beginning of March. However, there are rumors throughout the league that four-time All-Star left winger Artemi Panarin of Korkino, Russia could be on the move very soon. That is because according to TSN, Panarin is being held out of the New York Rangers’s lineup through the Olympic break “for roster management purposes.” In other words, he could be traded.

Panarin in 2025-26

Panarin has 19 goals and 38 assists for 57 points in 52 games. He is a -16 with 14 penalty minutes, 17 power-play points, three game-winning goals, 158 shots on goal, one faceoff win, 11 blocked shots , eight hits, 15 takeaways, and 69 giveaways. The faceoff win came in a 6-3 Rangers win over the Philadelphia Flyers on January 17.

Three four point games this season

On three occasions in 2025-26, Panarin has had a four-point game. He had one goal and three assists for four points in a 4-3 Rangers win over the Montreal Canadiens on October 18, four assists in a 7-3 Rangers win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on November 12 and one goal and three assists for four points in a 6-2 Rangers win over the Boston Bruins on November 28.

Strong January despite team struggles

The Rangers only have three wins in the month of January and are struggling mightily as a team. With only 50 points, the Rangers are the worst team in the Eastern Conference. The bottom line is when you play in New York City, losing its simply not acceptable at any time. The Rangers are also at -25 (145 goals scored and 170 goes against) and have the worst goals for and against ratio in the Eastern Conference.

That said, Panarin has had an impressive month despite the fact the Rangers are struggling getting in the win column. Panarin has 16 points in 11 January games as he has five goals and 11 assists.

Struggling defensively however

Panarin’s offensive statistics have been there this season, but he has not been good defensively. He is a -16 this season, and has 54 more giveaways than takeaways. Panarin is a -25 over the last two seasons after being a combined +156 over his first nine NHL seasons.

Where could Panarin be traded to?

Earlier this week, Jeff Hawkins discussed the Anaheim Ducks having the resources the Rangers might be interested in. According to Dan Rosen of nhl.com, three teams that could show interest are the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars. The Panthers are a possible trade partner because Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky is a close friend of Panarin.
