NHL Trade Rumors: Boston Bruins Make Offer For Calgary Flames D Rasmus Andersson

The whispers surrounding the Boston Bruins are growing louder. Of all the NHL trade rumors, at least one offer could be confirmed.

Take the rumored Boston Bruins potential deal for Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson, for example. RG.org revealed the Bruins’ first negotiating volley included right-shot defenseman Mason Lohrei and a future first-round draft pick.

The eager Flames (20-23-4), who entered Friday seven points below the Western Conference’s second wild-card spot, apparently seek to complete this deal before the Olympic break (Feb. 6-25).

With two 2026 first-round draft picks, the Bruins have the assets to pull off a deal and bring in the 10-year defenseman who posted a career-high 46 assists in 2021-22. In 47 outings this season, Andersson, who will be an unrestricted free agent next offseason, posted 10 goals among 29 points. Ten of his points developed on the power play.

The Bruins, who were two points ahead of the Toronto Maple Leafs for the Eastern Conference’s second wild-card spot, ranked fifth in power-play percentage (24.6). With Andersson, they could field one of the league’s top man-advantage units.

The Detroit Red Wings, who fell short in their bid to acquire Quinn Hughes in December, reportedly remain in the mix for Andersson, who posted 26:55 of ice time during Thursday’s 3-1 win over the host Chicago Blackhawks.

While one proposed Andersson deal has been confirmed, other NHL trade rumors centered on the Bruins continue to circulate on their backup goalie.

NHL Trade Rumors Continue To Center on Boston Bruins

The Bruins could have received a bump in their quest to move goaltender Joonas Korpisalo, who turned aside all 27 shots he faced during a 1-0 victory last Sunday.

The Bruins could be looking at a cost-cutting transaction.

Korpisalo earned his first shutout of the season, but a deal could be hard to work out, considering he has two years remaining on his current deal, valued with a $4 million cap hit.

In his first 16 starts this season, Korpisalo, 31, posted an 8-8 mark, with a 3.20 goals-against average and .894 save percentage.

The Bruins appear willing to go with Jeremy Swayman as the starter.
