The Green Bay Packers enter training camp with major questions about their passing attack. Jordan Love will be under center. Who Love throws to is up for grabs. Which wide receivers will win the Packers’ training camp battle?

Green Bay Packers Draft Wide Receivers

After years of surrounding Aaron Rodgers with veterans, the Packers have taken the opposite approach with Love. When it comes to age, the Packers have the youngest average NFL starters at 24.8.

Furthermore, the Packers have the sixth-youngest offense in the NFL.

Following a disappointing season that ended in the Wild Card round, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst decided he needed more young talent on offense, especially at wide receiver.

The Packers drafted Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden with the No. 23 pick. 2025 marked the first time in 23 years that Green Bay used a first-round draft selection on a wideout.

Golden is a speedster and deep-ball specialist who can stretch the field for this Packers offense. Golden finished his 2024 campaign at Texas with 58 receptions for 987 yards and nine touchdowns.

Gutekunst doubled down on receivers and took TCU’s Savion Williams in the third round. Williams can score wherever he touches the ball, thanks to his athleticism and explosiveness. Williams had six rushing touchdowns and six receiving touchdowns last season at TCU.

Green Bay Packers Training Camp Battle: Wide Receiver

The Packers return their top four receivers from last year in Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Dontayvion Wicks. The Packers also signed Mecole Hardman.

In a battle for the top four WR spots, Reed is the lock. Reed finished last season with 55 receptions for 857 yards (both team highs) and six touchdowns.

Watson is the wild card due to his ACL injury. Though reports say Watson is doing “great” in his recovery, don’t expect the Packers to rush him on the field. Don’t be surprised if Watson misses a few games to start the season.

The second spot will certainly go to Golden. Teams don’t spend first-round draft picks on wide receivers to then put them on the bench.

Doubs is coming off an underwhelming 2024 campaign, while Wicks’ inconsistent play led to decent numbers.

Watson is going to be one of the four once he returns from injury. Until that happens, expect Doubs and Wicks to get the nods at spots three and four. Meanwhile, Williams will be more of a gadget to start the season.

Predicted Winners: Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, Romeo Doubs, and Dontayvion Wicks
