Pro Bowl skills show roundup

The Pro Bowl is always a fun time of year, with the NFC and AFC conferences going head to head in a skill games showcase during a bye week before the Super Bowl.

The NFC took a convincing lead on night one of the Pro Bowl as coach Eli Manning looks to go 3-0 in the games since its debut in 2023.

Jared Goff led all scores for the ‘Passing the Test’ competition, as quarterbacks took aim at moving signs down the field. Goff scored an impressive 44 points, and Vikings QB Sam Darnold finished a close second with 39 points of his own.

The passing games set an early tone for the night, with the Vikings’ Justin Jefferson, the Arizona Cardinals’ Trey McBride and the Chicago Bears’ Jaylon Johnson leading the way in the ‘Satisfying Catches’ competition.

NFC receivers dominated the AFC with some impressive catches, but Cincinnati Bengals star and triple crown winner Ja’Marr Chase was able to keep the scores close in one of the tighter finishes on Thursday night.

It wasn’t just offensive stars shining at the Pro Bowl though, with the next competition seeing players spike a ball as hard as they can. New York Jets’ Quinnen Williams scored highest on the ‘Spike-O-Meter’ to give the AFC their first win of the night.

Next up in the games was a trivia contest hosted by actor Terry Crews, with the NFC winning 8-6 as players were tested on their knowledge of Pro Bowl stars.

The final competition at the skill games on Thursday was a highly anticipated dodgeball match and the points were shared after two games, but the it was all trivial with the NFC tying up the first night of games in a comfortable 14-7 win.
