On this week’s edition of SiriusXM’s Let’s Go podcast with Jim Gray, Crosby spoke about the team’s decision to hire Carroll as the team’s next head coach.
Crosby prides himself on being an energetic player on the field and in the locker room. So too does Carroll, a trait that Crosby appreciates.
“I think the number one thing you look at is just energy,” Crosby said. “We talked about it a few times. Competition as well. As a competitor, as somebody who brings energy all the time and lives off that and expects it from others, I love somebody with that type of mentality. So he’s a winner. He’s done it his whole career. And it’s just exciting to see what’s going to come soon.”
After a 4-13 season, the Raiders fired Antonio Pierce after his first year as the full-time head coach. Raiders owner Mark Davis also fired general manager Tom Telesco after one season.
The Raiders now turn to Carroll and new general manager John Spytek to turn things around in Las Vegas. Carroll is not interested in a rebuild and wants to turn things around immediately, a message that Crosby fully supports.
“The main things that he [Carroll] talked about is, we’re going right now,” Crosby added. “We’re not wasting time. That’s the one thing he mentioned to me after his press conference. We’re going to get this thing rolling. So, it’s exciting. That’s my mentality every year. I want to win every year. That’s the competition in me, and I see that in him. I feel like everybody, from the new ownership group, from (owner) Mark (Davis), everybody’s on the same mindset when it comes to attacking this new regime.”

With the Raiders’ struggles, Crosby constantly finds himself in trade rumors. Crosby is one of the league’s best pass-rushers, so naturally, his name always gets floated around when a contender needs another defensive end.
Crosby reworked his contract heading into 2024, which resulted in a raise of $6 million for the previous season.
Crosby still has two years left on the four-year, $94 million contract extension he signed in 2022. However, Crosby has no guaranteed money left on his deal.
Judging by Crosby’s comments, he likely wants to remain in Las Vegas, and if that’s the case, the organization will probably restructure the deal to give their star player another raise in 2025.
