Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Rams plan to release Kupp if they can’t trade him by the start of the league year on March 12.
Kupp just completed the first year of his three-year contract extension worth $80.1 million. Kupp’s cap hits are $29.8 million in 2025 and $27.3 million in 2026.
If the Rams designate Kupp as a post-June 1 cut, they will save $15 million and $7.52 million against the cap.
If Los Angeles cuts Kupp without a post-June 1 destination, it’s $22.2 million in dead money.
Kupp is only guaranteed $5 million in 2025.
If the Rams can find a trade for Kupp with a post-June 1 destination, they save $20 million toward the 2025 salary cap.
The Rams already signed Davante Adams as Kupp’s replacement.
Since his triple crown year in 2021, Kupp has never played more than 12 games in a season.
Kupp caught 67 passes for 710 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games this past season.
Three Teams Who Should Sign Cooper Kupp

The Seattle Seahawks are one of the teams that should inquire about Kupp.
Kupp was born in Washington and played college ball at Eastern Washington.
The Seahawks also need help at wide receiver after trading DK Metcalf and releasing Tyler Lockett.
The New England Patriots must supply Drake Maye with some better pass catchers on the outside.
The Patriots have already signed a plethora of defensive players. Now, New England should take care of their offense and sign a reliable route runner like Kupp.
If Kupp wants to stay in California, the Los Angeles Chargers need another wide receiver to pair with Ladd McConkey. The Chargers also lost wide receiver Joshua Palmer in free agency to the Buffalo Bills.
