Toronto Raptors Rookie Chucky Hepburn Undergoes Knee Surgery, Out At Least 6 Weeks

Toronto Raptors rookie guard Chucky Hepburn has undergone surgery to address a torn meniscus in his right knee and will be reevaluated in six weeks, per Josh Lewenberg of TSN.ca.

Chucky Hepburn Went Undrafted

Hepburn spent three years at Wisconsin before transferring to Louisville for his senior season in 2024-25. The 22-year-old scored a career high 37 points against Pittsburgh on March 1, 2025.

He went undrafted in June and signed a two-way contract with the Raptors. The 6-foot Hepburn has only made two NBA appearances with Toronto for just a total of 13 minutes off the bench.

However, he’s been a solid player with the Raptors 905, the club’s G League affiliate.

The Nebraska native helped the Raptors 905 get off to a historic 19-0 start en route to earning the No. 1 seed in the Tip-off Tournament and a Showcase Final appearance.

Raptors 905 Will Miss Hepburn

In 18 Tip-Off Tournament and regular-season games, Hepburn is averaging 12.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, 8.6 assists, 2.3 steals, and 29.3 minutes per outing with a 41.5/36.8/87.1 shooting line.

Although Hepburn’s injury will likely not affect Toronto’s rotation, the Raptors 905 will be missing their star playmaker and former ACC Defensive Player of the Year.

“He’s the dawg, he’s the head of the snake on both ends,” Raptors 905 head coach Drew Jones said of Hepburn. “He’s our point-of-attack (defender) on the ball. Luckily, we’ve got a guy like Alijah (Martin) who’s following right in his footsteps.

“He’s got the same mentality defensively. He’s physical, he’s active, he’s alert. So we know what we’re missing, but we’ve got guys that can fill in.”

Toronto Raptors Dealing With Other Injuries

The Raptors 905 improved to 7-1 with Thursday night’s 117-98 home win over the Noblesville Boom.

With Hepburn sidelined, David Roddy and Tyreke Key each scored 26 points at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga, Ontario.

As for the NBA team, the Raptors are dealing with a few other injuries.

Toronto big man Jakob Poeltl (back) was able to practice on Thursday in Boston, but the 7-footer will miss his ninth consecutive game on Friday against the Celtics.

Scottie Barnes (right knee sprain) and Brandon Ingram (right thumb sprain) are listed as questionable as well.
