The Seattle Seahawks’ offense did everything but win the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Seahawks had more total yards (463 to 426), first downs (27 to 25), and rushing yards (122 to 56) than the Bucs.
In the end, the Bucs’ defense intercepted a pass from Sam Darnold in the game’s final minute to set the Bucs’ offense up for the game-winning field goal.
Despite the crucial mistake, Darnold is proving to Seattle that the organization made the right call by picking him over Geno Smith. Darnold is second in QBR (78.9) and in the top 10 for yards (1,246) and passing touchdowns (9).
The Seahawks also boast an excellent defense that has surrendered more than 20 points in only one of five games. Injuries could play a factor in determining the outcome against the Jaguars.
Cornerback Devon Witherspoon, linebacker DeMarcus Lawrence, safety Julian Love, cornerback Riq Woolen, and linebacker Derick Hall are all battling injuries that could keep them out of Week 6.
While the Seahawks lost a tight game, the Jaguars won a potentially franchise-altering game over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence still made some egregious mistakes, but his two rushing touchdowns, including one to take the lead with 23 seconds left, ended up being the difference.
Jacksonville’s ability to force turnovers played a key part in the outcome. Devin Lloyd intercepted Patrick Mahomes on the 1-yard line and returned it 99 yards for a touchdown. The Jaguars’ 14 turnovers lead the NFL.
This game feels like a classic letdown spot for the Jaguars on a short week. Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald is also an excellent road coach — 6-3-1 ATS and 9-1 SU during his Seahawks tenure. Darnold also gets to face a Jaguars defense that allows the sixth-most passing yards per game.
I like Seattle to win a close one.
