Silas Demary Transfer Portal Destinations: 5 Potential Landing Spots for Georgia Guard

Silas Demary Jr. is one of the top guards in the 2025 college basketball transfer portal. After averaging 13.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists at Georgia, the 6’5″ sophomore has drawn interest from several high-major programs. As things stand, BYU and Kentucky look like the top contenders. But let’s take a closer look at the recruiting race for the former Bulldog.
Demary Favoring BYU as Next Destination?
BYU has scheduled an official visit with Demary. The Cougars are pushing to land experienced guards who can contribute right away in the Big 12. Demary fits that mold — a versatile defender who can create offense and guard multiple positions.
BYU doesn’t seems short of NIL funds of late, and are capable of landing big names in the portal and out of high school. They currently have a top-10 recruiting class for 2025, and are just coming off a deep March Madness run. Silas could be in-line to land himself a six-figure deal, and be surrounded by elite talent, and that’s probably why they currently lead the race for the former Georgia guard.
Kentucky a Landing Spot for Silas Demary After Surprise In-Home Visit?
Kentucky have also inserted themselves into the race for Demary. Mark Pope and his staff made an in-home visit and offered Demary a scholarship over the weekend. That offer, combined with Kentucky’s need for backcourt talent, puts them in a strong position. No visit has been confirmed yet, but the interest is believed to be mutual.
Other Schools in the Mix for Silas Demary
UConn has a visit scheduled but appears to be behind BYU and Kentucky. St. John’s has been in contact, and Duke has reportedly spoken with Demary’s camp. These schools remain involved, but haven’t generated the same momentum.
