The PGA Tour season finally gets underway at the 2026 Sony Open in Hawaii at Waialae Country Club.Â
With The Sentry canceled this year, the Sony Open assumes the role of the official season opener. The PGA Tour opens with a strong field, including 11 players ranked in the top 30 in the world, but perhaps the most interesting storyline is the slew of rookies who will be making their debut on the Tour.Â
There are 22 first-time members and 20 rookies making their debut at Waialae Country Club this week. The only rookie or tournament debutant to ever win the Sony Open was Russell Henley in 2013. Coincidentally, Henley enters the first tournament of the season as the odds-on favorite at +1000 odds, according to the oddsmakers at BetOnline. Â
Sony Open 2026 Odds
Waialae is a course designed for shot-makers that rewards experience, which is part of the reason why rookies have struggled at this tournament in the past. The par-70 layout rewards precision and a hot short game.Â
Henley’s breakthrough in 2013 has made him a Sony Open legend but he’s remained one of the most consistent players in Hawaii in recent years. Over the past five years, he’s made the cut all five times while posting four top 11 finishes at Waialae.Â
Ben Griffin and Collin Morikawa are the top challengers on the odds board at +1600 apiece, followed by reigning U.S. Open champion J.J. Spaun (+1800) and Hideki Matsuyama (+2000), who won the tournament in 2022.
Defending champion Nick Taylor sits at +4000, despite posting solid performances at Waialae of late. Taylor has posted a 66.25 scoring average since 2021 while posting a T11 and two T7 finishes ahead of last year’s victory.
Here are the latest Sony Open 2026 odds for the top 50 players in the field.

Sony Open 2026 Predictions
J.J. Spaun is coming off of a historic season in 2025. Not only did he win his first major with a U.S. Open victory at Oakmont but he also finished runner-up at The Players Championship and the FedEx St. Jude Championship. At No. 6 in the world, Spaun is the highest-ranked player in the tournament and has recently found his footing at Waialae, where he posted a T3 finish in 2025 and a 12th place finish in 2023.Â
Spaun ranks first in the field in strokes gained on approach. He also enters the week as the second-best player on the Tour in Par 4 scoring over his last 76 rounds. Given that Waialae is a Par 70 with 12 Par 4s, he’s among the players who offer the most value at the top of the board.
Best Bet to Win: J.J. Spaun (+1800)
Sony Open 2026 Best Longshot Bets
Keegan Bradley appears ready to break through in Hawaii after posting strong finishes in each of the past two years. He posted a T2 finish in 2024, losing in a playoff versus Grayson Murray, before following it up with a T6 last year. He also posted two T12 finishes in 2022 and 2020. Bradley is coming off of a season in which he won the Travelers Championship and served as the Ryder Cup captain at Bethpage Black, which should give him the confidence to open the season on a high note.Â
Best Value Bet: Keegan Bradley (+3300)
Top Dark Horse: Eric Cole (+8000)
Best Longshot Bet: Johnny Keefer (+10000)
