Steph Curry avoided major injury

Steph Curry has revealed he avoided a major injury with his back and that allowed him to return after a two-game absence.

After a scary fall against the Toronto Raptors a week ago, there was fear that Curry may miss much more time than he did. Back in the 2020-21 season, Curry had fallen on his back against the Houston Rockets and missed five games thereafter.

On this occasion, Curry was officially diagnosed with a pelvic contusion. The Warriors lost to both the Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat in his absence.

Curry returned against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night, finishing with 23 points, four rebounds, six assists, and three steals. He only shot 7-of-21 from the field including 5-of-16 from three.

“It just reminded me of ’21 when I fell into the stairs in Houston,” Curry said. “I think that [this time it didn’t] break anything or have any bone damage, was mostly just a deep serious contusion that I’ll feel it for a while. But I can play and I can’t make it worse as long as I don’t land on it again.”

Warriors Look To Finish Strong

After a very winnable game against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, the Warriors face a crucial stretch that will define their final standing and hopes of playing in the postseason.

Over the course of a week, they will play the Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, and Phoenix Suns.

Golden State is currently seventh in the West at 42-31, tied with the L.A. Clippers (42-31) in sixth and a half-game ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves (42-32) in eighth.

The sixth seed is the final guaranteed playoff spot while seventh or eighth would mean dealing with the uncertainty of the Play-In Tournament.

Landing in the Play-In tournament would also increase the probability of going up against the mighty Oklahoma City Thunder (61-12) in the first round.
