The Favorites
Kansas City Chiefs (+300)
Detroit Lions (+325)
The two teams that have been mainstays atop the sportsbook odds board for the entire season are the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs.
Detroit enjoyed their best regular season in franchise history in 2024, winning 15 games and finishing as the #1 seed in the NFC. They’ve been able to navigate through injury issues on their way to the top of the standings, and secured the NFC North division with a big in Week 18 over the Minnesota Vikings. They’ll be listed as the overall Super Bowl favorite according to BetOnline, coming in with a designation of +300.
Not far behind are the Kansas City Chiefs. They haven’t been the dominant product that we’ve been accustomed to seeing over the past few years, but Patrick Mahomes and company were still able to finish the regular season with the highest win total that their franchise has ever seen. Along with the Lions, the Chiefs will enjoy a bye during Wild Card Weekend, and are listed at +325.
The Contenders
Baltimore Ravens (+600)
Buffalo Bills (+600)
Philadelphia Eagles (+700)
The Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens are looking to exercise their postseason demons. Both teams have been among the best in the NFL during the regular season over the past decade, but have each suffered heartbreak and shortcomings during the month of January. The MVP race has come down to Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, who have led their squads to 13 and 12 win seasons, and they’re both hoping to have their fortunes reversed during the 2025 playoffs.
Both teams are heavily favored for their home matchups during the Wild Card round. The Bills will play host to the 7th-seeded Denver Broncos and are listed as 9.5-point favorites, while the Ravens hold an impressive 9-point edge over the division rival Pittsburgh Steelers. They’ll likely have to get through either each other or the Chiefs in order to make it to the Super Bowl, and are both listed at +600 entering the tournament.
The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to get back to the big game for the third time in eight years. Running back Saquon Barkley put together an MVP-candidate worthy performance by gaining over 2,000 rushing yards, and their defense ranks in the top-3 in essentially all of the important categories. They are listed at +700 to be the crowned the champions, and will start off with a tough home matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
NFC North Hopefuls
Minnesota Vikings (+1600)
Green Bay Packers (+1800)
Down the board is where the value starts for the underdog teams. The NFC North was easily the most dominant division in the NFL this season, with three different teams notching 11+ victories. The Lions were the division champs, but the other two teams could make a run if things break in their favor.
The Vikings entered Week 18 with a chance to win the North, but fell flat against Detroit when it mattered most. Instead of securing the #1 seed in the NFC and a bye week in the first round, they’ll instead travel to Los Angeles to take on the Rams during Wild Card Weekend. They’ll have a tough path if they hope to make it to the Super Bowl, and are listed at +1600 overall.
The Packers are hobbling into the playoffs after losing two straight to end the season, and have question marks thanks to injuries to key players. They’ll be forced to take on a tough Eagles team on the road for their first playoff game, and will have to pull off an impressive upset in order to advance to the divisional round. Their Super Bowl winning designation comes in at +1800.
The Long Shots
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3300)
Los Angeles Chargers (+3500)
Los Angeles Rams (+4000)
Washington Commanders (+4500)
Denver Broncos (+6600)
Houston Texans (+7500)
Pittsburgh Steelers (+8000)
The bottom of the board features the teams who have long shot odds, but are the ones that can provide the most value if you believe that one of them can make a serious run at the Super Bowl.
The Buccaneers, Rams, and Commanders represent the NFC in this section. Washington is making just its second postseason appearance in 9 years and first since 2020, and are mostly inexperienced in meaningful games with a rookie playing quarterback. They’ll take on Tampa Bay on Sunday, who won 6 of their last 7 games after starting the year 4-6. Those two teams along with the Rams are all within the +3300 to +4500 range.
The three teams with the longest odds are all AFC representatives. The Broncos squeaked into the playoffs thanks to their win over the depleted Chiefs in Week 18, and the Texans qualified thanks to winning one of the weaker divisions in the NFL. The highest designation, however, belongs to the Steelers, who are limping into the postseason having lost four games in a row to close out the regular season. These three teams are coming in with odds ranging from +6600 to +8000.
