Tennis Channel Goes Boozy, Serves Cocktail To WTA Player For Second Time In Four Days

The Tennis Channel is entering its boozy era. For the second time in four days, a Tennis Channel post-match interview features a WTA player drinking a cocktail.
Aryna Sabalenka got the trend started. After one of her early round match wins at the Miami Open, Prakash Amritraj snuck her a sip of a “Marg-aryna.” After the following round, Sabalenka was disappointed that there was no post-match cocktail. After her Miami Open finals win over Jessica Pegula, her drink awaited her arrival at the TC desk.

It also created an impromptu memorable moment when Pegula walked by the desk and snatched her drink during the interview. Ironically, Pegula said that she has gotten a lot of comments and jokes about that drink-snatching moment that went viral. Pegula joked that she wanted to take something from her after losing three finals in less than a year.
“I had to take something from her.” 😂🍸

Diana Shnaider’s Birthday Surprise
The next player to get served was Diana Shnaider on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Shnaider turned 21, and Tennis Channel had a celebratory drink waiting for her when she stopped by the desk after her Charleston Open singles win.
The Tennis Channel desk post-match interviews at these tournaments are among the network’s best moments. Steve Weissman and Prakash Amritraj are the best at asking insightful questions and engaging in lighthearted banter with the players.
In the Shnaider interview, we learned that she and Miami Open doubles champion partner Mirra Andreeva agreed to play together for 2025. The 2024 Olympic silver medalists will be fun to watch at the French Open given their success at Roland Garros during the Olympics. We also heard about her crazy travel itinerary from Miami to Charleston.
While the post-match drink may not become a tradition, serving a cocktail to the tournament champion should be.
