Just two weeks ago, it appeared as if the Sacramento Kings had hit rock bottom. They were losers of six straight games, which dropped their record to 13-19, and sat in the 11th spot in the Western Conference behind teams like the Spurs, Suns, and Warriors. They even went as far as to fire Mike Brown, their leader who won the NBA Coach of the Year Award less than two years ago.

Kings Have Won 7 In A Row After 6 Straight Losses

But things took a drastic turn when the calendar flipped over to 2025. They’ve shown a fight and grit that had been missing during the first two months of the season, one that has reflected the personality and coaching style of interim head coach Doug Christie.

Under their new leadership and with their new mentality, the Kings have now won seven straight games, the longest current active streak in the NBA. They’ve climbed out of their hole, now sporting a winning record of 20-19, and are in 9th place in the West, just 1.5 games back of the 6th place Lakers.

They’ve done it mostly by upping their intensity on defense and in the rebounding department. Over the span of their seven game streak, no team in the league has averaged more rebounds per game, and Sacramento ranks third in steals as well. Their shooting woes from earlier in the year have diminished, and they are averaging the 2nd-most points of any team since December 30th.

The Kings have held three of their last seven opponents to 100 points or fewer, including the mighty Boston Celtics in their upset victory.

Contributions Coming From All Over The Roster

Players all over the roster are contributing to the upswing. Malik Monk was able to be an offensive catalyst when star guard De’Aaron Fox missed three games, and Domantas Sabonis is putting up some of the best numbers of his NBA career as of late. Keegan Murray seems to be snapping out of his shooting struggles from early on, and Keon Ellis being a regular in the rotations has paid dividends on both sides of the ball.

The Kings will have a tough task ahead if they hope to keep the winning streak alive. On Tuesday, they’ll wrap up a three-game road trip by taking on the Bucks in Milwaukee, and will return home for a date with the Houston Rockets on Thursday. Seven of their next ten games will be played against teams currently at .500 or better, including meetings scheduled with the Nuggets, Knicks, Thunder, and Timberwolves.

If Sacramento happens to defeat the Bucks in their next game, it will be the longest winning streak for the franchise since the 2004-05 NBA season.
