Wide receiver Treylon Burks will always be associated with A.J. Brown because of the trade between the Tennessee Titans and Philadelphia Eagles during the 2022 NFL Draft. Now, Burks needs a new team after being cut by the Titans.

Treylon Burks Waived By Titans

The Burks era in Tennessee ends in disappointing fashion.

The Titans announced they waived/injured Burks days after the receiver suffered a fractured collarbone during Saturday’s practice.

Tennessee selected Burks No. 18 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. Unfortunately for the Titans, Burks never reached his full potential.

Burks caught 53 passes for 699 yards and one touchdown in three seasons. Injuries derailed Burks’ time in Tennessee, as he failed to play more than 11 games in each of his three seasons.

Burks only played five games in 2024 before tearing his ACL in practice ahead of the Titans’ Week 7 game against the Buffalo Bills.

2025 was supposed to be a “prove-it” year for Burks after the Titans declined his fifth-year option. Burks will now try to salvage his career on another team.

Burks heads to waivers with an injury designation, meaning the other 31 teams can claim him. If he goes unclaimed, the Titans can place Burks on injured reserve or work out an injury settlement.

Revisiting Titans-Eagles Trade From 2022

Burks will always be associated with the trade that changed the trajectory of both franchises.

After three good seasons with the Titans, Brown entered the final year of his rookie deal in 2022. The former second-round pick wanted an extension. After 2,995 yards and 24 touchdowns, Brown deserved a pay raise.

Instead of paying Brown, the Titans elected to trade him during the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Titans traded Brown to the Eagles for the 2022 No. 18 pick and a 2022 third-round pick. The Titans selected Burks, who they waived today.

The Eagles immediately signed Brown to a four-year, $100 million contract, with $57 million guaranteed.

During his three seasons in Philadelphia, Brown has ascended to one of the 10 best receivers in the NFL. Browns have three consecutive seasons of 1,000 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

Brown recorded three catches for 43 yards and one touchdown in the Eagles’ 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.

The Eagles and Brown agreed to a three-year, $96 million contract extension during the 2024 offseason, which keeps the talented wide receiver with the team through the 2029 season.
