Travis Hunter Contract

The Jaguars finally have their first-round draft pick under contract.

Hunter and the Jaguars agreed to terms on a four-year deal worth $46.65 million, fully guaranteed. Hunter’s contract includes a $30.57 million signing bonus paid up front. This is the first time a non-quarterback not drafted first overall received his entire signing bonus up front.

“It’s a blessing,” Hunter said on Sunday via Jaguars.com. “I’m very excited to be at a place where they let me be myself and do what I do.”

With Hunter signed, only two players selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft have not signed contracts: Cincinnati Bengals edge rusher Shemar Stewart and Denver Broncos cornerback Jahdae Barron.

The Jaguars paid a steep price to move up in the 2025 NFL Draft to select Hunter. The Jaguars traded the No. 5 pick, a 2025 second-round pick (No. 36), a 2025 fourth-round pick (No. 126), and a 2026 first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for the No. 2 pick, a 2024 fourth-round pick (No. 104), and a 2025 sixth-round pick (No. 200).

The Jaguars plan to play Hunter at wide receiver and defensive back. Hunter spent most of minicamp working out with the offense, though he did dedicate some time to the defensive side of the ball.

“I’m just getting the work done that needs to be done,” Hunter said about his offseason. “First, I’m going on a trip with the guys, with some of my teammates to still get some work in. We’re going to be working. I’m going to just be working my butt off to be ready for training camp – and doing little fishing.”

Jacksonville Jaguars Enter New Era Under Liam Coen

The Jacksonville Jaguars will look different at several key positions, the most important being head coach.

The Jaguars hired Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen to be the next head coach. The Jaguars also hired 34-year-old James Gladstone, a scout with the Los Angeles Rams, to be the organization’s general manager.

The main goal this season will be to get Trevor Lawrence healthy and back on track. After leading the Jaguars to the Divisional Round in 2022, Lawrence has gone 10-16 as the Jaguars’ starter. Lawrence has also been plagued by shoulder injuries over the past year.

The Jaguars hope that Hunter, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner, could be the perfect running mate with wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr.
