Underdog CEO says the DFS sportsbook is ready for product innovation
October is almost over and sportsbooks around the country and preparing themselves for the 2025 calendar year. One challenge that traditional sportsbooks have had is trying to retain legacy customers. These are players who wager thousands to millions of dollars annually at sportsbooks around the country. Operators want to retain these players and keep them loyal to the sportsbook. They can do this in several ways by offering free bets, VIP access, and more.
In September, industry operators met at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas. They discussed the desire to obtain higher growth rates in states where there is room left in the market. However, making their way into a legal wagering market is easier said than done. At the Global Gaming Expo, Underdog CEO Jeremey Levine noted how important product innovation will be in 2025 and beyond.
Levine explained that in a rush to have a market in the U.S., legacy sportsbooks imported a traditional model that was used overseas for decades. The outdated product has opened the market for newcomers who plan to introduce more customer-friendly options.
Levine has been pleased with how Underdog is operating during football season
We’re headed into Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season and Underdog CEO Jeremy Levine is pleased with download volumes. He also mentioned the company’s satisfaction with the average time users are spending on their DFS sportsbooks. Product testing from Betting Hero stated that Underdog received a “modern, user-friendly design.” Based on their internal metrics, Underdog is fourth among U.S. sportsbooks for gaming downloads during the 2024 NFL season.
Jeremy Levine believes that Underdog maintains a competitive advantage in the industry by operating their technology platform. Building their platform allows Underdog the ability to easily update and make changes based on a product their customers want. Just last week, Goldman Sachs honored Levine as one of the most exceptional entrepreneurs of 2024. It was the second straight year he made that list. Levine mentioned how the industry is “ripe” for innovation and Underdog is ready to take advantage of that opportunity.
