Wembanyama Out For Remainder Of Season With Blood Clot

San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season with deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder.
This is devastating news for the Spurs, a team which just acquired star point guard De’Aaron Fox in the hopes of making a playoff push.
The team confirmed the condition was discovered when Wembanyama returned to San Antonio following All-Star Weekend in San Francisco. The Frenchman participated in the Skills Challenge on Saturday night, as well as the All-Star Game on Sunday.
Wembanyama finishes the season with averages of 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.1 steals and 3.8 blocks in 46 games. Staggering List of Ineligible Players Due To Injury
The list of top players who are now ineligible for end of season awards is a sorry sight.
Wembanyama joins Luka Doncic, Joel Embiid, Kawhi Leonard and Ja Morant as players who will finish the season with fewer than 65 games played. Jimmy Butler, Zion Williamson, Chet Holmgren, Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner and Paul George are also on the list.
It certainly opens the door for some newer faces at the end of the season, though it’s nonetheless disappointing how many notable players are already ineligible.
