When does Blades Brown Play Next? Qualifiers & Exemptions for 2025

Blades Brown made his PGA Tour debut last week and made history along the way. While he missed the cut at the American Express, the 17-year-old will need to play in PGA Tour qualifiers to receive an exemption on his next event. After not qualifying for the Farmers Insurance Open, the Nashville star will likely be playing at the WM Phoenix Open qualifier for a spot in the field at TPC Scottsdale.

Blades Brown Makes History in Pro Debut

At 17, Brown made history in his PGA Tour Pro debut. After receiving a sponsored exemption to the American Express, Brown shined in the tournament’s second round, shooting 8-under 64, the third-lowest score of that round. It was history for Brown as his second round at Pete Dye broke a 40-year-old record with the lowest score recorded in a PGA Tour round by a player under 18.

In addition, Brown also recorded the lowest score by a player 17 or younger in the last 25 years, joining a group of elite players like Justin Thomas in 2009 at age 16, Tony Finau in 2007 at age 17, and Ty Tryon in 2001 at age 17.

What Events Could Blades Brown Play in 2025?

Currently, Blades Brown doesn’t have full-time Tour status, meaning the 17-year-old is relying on sponsor exemptions and qualifiers for his shot at events on the Tour.

Brown is currently under SportsFive management, who runs the American Express, Puerto Rico Open, Myrtle Beach Classic and ISCO Championship. Blades will likely be sponsored into those events as the PGA Tour allows players up to seven annual sponsor exemptions.

Another way Brown will find himself on the Tour is through playing well at events. By finishing in the top 10, Brown will be able to receive additional tournament exemptions.

In 2025, there are a total of 23 qualifiers left that Brown will have a shot in order to make the field in any PGA Tour event. After narrowly missing his spot at the Farmers Insurance Open qualifier, Brown will likely be at the WM Phoenix Open qualifier in February.
