Jay Cutler, Bears, Dolphins, Broncos, NFL

Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler was one of the most polarizing players during his playing career with the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, and Miami Dolphins. His negative body language on the sideline and constant turnovers overshadowed his rocket arm and funny personality.

Cutler retired from the NFL after the 2017 season. He was supposed to join Fox as a color commentator after the Bears released him following the 2016 season. However, the Dolphins signed the gunslinger after losing Ryan Tannehill to an ACL injury before the 2017 campaign started.

Jay Cutler could have taken the Fox job for the 2018 season, but he decided not to. That got us thinking: where is Cutler nowadays, and what is he doing with his life?

In 153 games with the Broncos, Bears, and Dolphins, Jay Cutler threw for 35,133 yards. He racked up 227 passing touchdowns and 160 interceptions, finishing with a career quarterback rating of 85.3.

The Broncos drafted Cutler out of Vanderbilt with the 11th overall pick in the 2006 Draft. The Santa Claus, Indiana native spent the first three years of his career in Denver before requesting a trade after the 2008 season. Cutler threw for 9,024 yards and tossed 54 touchdowns with the Broncos. He made the Pro Bowl in 2008.

Denver traded Cutler to the Bears in April of 2009. The signal-caller spent eight years in Chicago and was a polarizing figure. While Cutler dazzled fans with his monster arm and toughness, he also pissed off many people since he threw a bevy of costly interceptions and didn’t possess the leadership qualities quarterbacks are supposed to have.

Cutler finished his Bears career with 26,109 passing yards, 173 touchdowns, and 123 interceptions. He’s Chicago’s all-time leader in passing yards, touchdowns, and completions.

After the Bears waived Cutler in 2017, he signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins, reuniting with Adam Gase. Cutler started 14 games in 2017 and threw for 2,666 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions before retiring from the NFL.
