Aaron Rodgers is having another MVP-type season. He has the chance to clinch home field throughout the NFC playoffs with a win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. January games at Lambeau Field could be very beneficial to the Green Bay Packers in their quest for another Super Bowl. Rodgers enjoys playing in the cold, especially in the home confines of Lambeau. Rodgers recently made a comment that should scare Bears fans if they’re hopeful of making the postseason.

Aaron Rodgers eyeing his third MVP

Aaron Rodgers is having the season most quarterbacks can only dream about. He’s guided the Green Bay Packers to the top seed in the NFC entering the final week of the regular season. Rodgers is also putting up some serious numbers.

Rodgers, in his 16th season in the NFL and 13th as the starting quarterback for the Packers, has thrown for a league-leading 44 touchdowns while completing better than 70% of his passes. He’s thrown for 4,059 yards and has been intercepted just five times. He has the Packers sitting at 12-3 with one game to play. He’s a leading candidate to claim his third MVP.

In his last game, Rodgers completed 21 of 25 passes as the Packers cruised past the Tennessee Titans 40-14. Rodgers added four touchdowns through the air. It’s the sixth time this season Rodgers has thrown four touchdown passes in a game.

The Packers are seeking the No. 1 seed

The Green Bay Packers play their final regular-season game of 2020 on the road, looking to clinch home field throughout the NFC playoffs. The Packers control their own destiny. A win over the rival Chicago Bears on Sunday would secure a key first-round bye and the right to play at Lambeau Field throughout the NFC playoffs.

The Packers enter Week 17 with a 12-3 mark. The New Orleans Saints and the Seattle Seahawks come in with 11-4 records. Should Green Bay lose to the Bears, they could still get the top seed. In order for that to happen, the San Francisco 49ers would have to defeat the Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks own the tiebreaker with the Packers if they were to end with identical records. The Packers own the tiebreaker with the New Orleans Saints by virtue of their head-to-head matchup this season. Green Bay enters Week 17 as a 5.5-point favorite over the Bears.

The Chicago Bears also have playoff hopes

The Chicago Bears also have a shot of making the postseason. A win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday and they’re in. They can also sneak in if they lose. If the Los Angeles Rams defeat the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, the Bears will still make their way into the playoffs.

The Packers will make things very difficult for the Bears to get in, even at home. Aaron Rodgers had a little comment during Tuesday’s podcast with Pat McAfee that should strike a little fear into Chicago fans. McAfee said he assumed Rodgers’ favorite place to play was Lambeau Field. He then asked if there was any place that was a close second.

“I like playing at Soldier Field as well, which is this week,” Rodgers said on the Pat McAfee Show. “We’ve had some big ones there.” Rodgers went on to rattle off some of his team’s big wins there. “We won the NFC Championship there,” he said. “Came back from a broken collarbone there in ’13 and hit a fourth-and-8 to (Randall Cobb). There’s been some big ones over the years.” The last thing the Bears need is for Rodgers to be comfortable in their own home.
