The WWE began touring in Saudi Arabia in 2014, but it was initially non-televised house shows.

In 2018, WWE and Saudi Arabia signed a 10-year strategic partnership deal.

Under this deal, the agreement was extended to commit to two major shows per year through at least 2027, which was finalized in late 2018.

Night of Champions is a WWE PLE that is being held in Saudi Arabia on June 28, 2025. SmackDown is also taking place in Saudi Arabia, the night before the PLE.

With a lot of tensions in the Middle East, there have been questions of whether the WWE will still go.

As of now, the WWE still plans on going to Saudi Arabia for SmackDown and Night of Champions, despite the tensions in the Middle East.

There were questions as to whether the WWE would remain with their planned schedule and go to Saudi Arabia. Currently, there seems to be no plans to cancel SmackDown or the PLE or move them. Several WWE employees in Qatar were reportedly affected by the move, though it is said the skies are expected to be opened by Wednesday.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com posted on X that the Saudi government was expecting WWE Night of Champions to proceed as planned.

WWE is planning to have the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia in early 2026.

This marks the first time one of WWE’s “Big 4” Premium Live Events will be held in the country. The “Big 4” events are the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series.

During Raw last night, WWE kept advertising the Night of Champions event and said it will take place in Saudi Arabia.

Despite WWE superstars expressing their worry and some may not go, the WWE seems to be full go this weekend for SmackDown and Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia.
