Zero Star: The Cam Ward Story Lands At Tubi

Per Variety, Tubi will release all six episodes of Zero Star: The Cam Ward Story. The docuseries chronicles the rise of Cam Ward, from an unheralded high school recruit to the first pick of the NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans.

Firebrand Media Group had previously workshopped an episode of Zero Star. Now, it has been reworked into a six-part project that will debut on Tubi during the 2025 NFL season in September.

Zero Star features exclusive interviews with Ward, his family, teammates, coaches, teachers, and more. Archival footage and behind-the-scenes moments will be incorporated into the series.

“Being overlooked — in my shoes, it was a blessing and a curse,” Ward said in a statement. “I overcame the curse by turning adversity into strength and I have played with nothing to lose, which is a blessing. It means you bring it all and leave it all out there on the field and in life.”

Ward famously had one Division I college offer. The 6-foot-2 and 218-pound quarterback attended Incarnate Word (2020-21) for two seasons. Ward then transferred to Washington State (2022-23) for two more seasons.

Ward’s breakout year came with his third team, the Miami Hurricanes, in 2024. Ward threw 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns with a 67.2 completion percentage.

Ward set the record for most passing touchdowns by a quarterback in Division I (FBS/FCS) with 158.

Ward’s 158 passing touchdowns is a Division I (FBS/FCS) record.

Meaning Behind Zero Star

College football prospects are ranked on a star meter, with one being the worst and five being the best.

Most Division I quarterbacks are four- or five-star quarterbacks. As an unknown player with one DI offer, Ward was essentially a “zero-star recruit.” These zero-star players are unranked and unscouted.

By getting drafted by the Titans at No. 1, Ward became the first zero-star recruit this century to be drafted in the first round.

“Cam’s journey isn’t just about football — it’s about heart, belief, and the power of second chances,” said director and Firebrand partner Alec Roth. “This series gives viewers an unfiltered look at a young man who was told ‘no’ at every stage yet refused to quit. From backyard games in West Columbia to draft night glory, Cam’s story unfolds across six episodes filled with raw emotion, defining moments, and behind-the-scenes access. It’s a modern hero’s journey — and a blueprint for anyone who’s ever felt overlooked.”

Alec Roth directs Zero Star. Producers include Josh Clayton, Jeff Symon, Kirk Martin, Robby Clifford, Manoj Gandhi, Jelani Hawkins, Peter Morgan, Tuan Bui, and producer/editor James Tartanella. Firebrand Media Group developed and produced the project.
