Wolves have agreed to a new long-term deal with Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes despite speculation over a summer move to Premier League rivals.
Joao Gomes agrees to new Wolves deal
There has been a lot of talk surrounding Wolves’ Joao Gomes as the season begins to draw to a close, with multiple Premier League rivals reporting interest in signing the midfielder this summer.
However, Wolves boss Vítor Pereira put any transfer speculation to bed on Tuesday afternoon as Gomes agreed to a new long-term deal which will keep him with the Midlands-based club until 2030.

Pereira released a statement following the new deal, with the boss holding his star midfielder in high regard.
“I’m very happy because Joao is a team player. He gives every time 100 per cent, in training, in the games, and he has the quality to help this team and this club to make the next step.
“He’s very important because he’s a midfielder with physicality and the power to run for 90 minutes, and he’s young. He has big potential and can be a top player.”
Gomes has played 80 games for Wolves since joining in 2023 and with 27 starts in the league this season, he has emerged as one of the brightest midfield prospects in the league at a young age.
Tottenham amongst those snubbed by Wolves & Gomes
Tottenham seemed to be the main party interested in securing Gomes’ talents as they hoped to bring in the Brazilian star along with his teammate and compatriot Matheus Cunha.
It is no surprise that other Premier League teams had taken interest in Gomes after an impressive two years in England despite Wolves’ difficulties in the league.
As well as Spurs, Liverpool and Manchester United had both shown desire to sign the 24-year-old who has turned heads in an otherwise disappointing season for Wolves.
Gomes following in Yerson Mosquera’s footsteps
Gomes wasn’t the only rising star from Wolves to earn himself a new deal this week, with Yerson Mosquera agreeing to a two year extension that will keep him on until 2026 at the earliest.
The Colombian defender looked promising in his first five games of the year following loan spells in the MLS and La Liga, but his season was cut short very early on after he suffered a severe injury.
Mosquera didn’t feature again for Wolves after tearing his ACL in September but his good start to the campaign was enough to earn him a new deal.
