Winning the European Golden Shoe — aka the European Golden Boot — is on every forward’s bucket list. While domestic Golden Boot awards showcase players’ prolificacy in the league, the European Golden Shoe demonstrates how they measure up against all their peers across divisions on the continent.
Of course, not every league is equal in difficulty. The top five European leagues — Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Ligue 1, and Bundesliga — are deemed the toughest, so goals scored in these leagues get multiplied by a coefficient of 2. Goals scored in leagues ranked from 6 to 22 are multiplied by 1.5, and goals scored in leagues ranked below are multiplied by 1. The player with the highest points (goals scored x multiplier) takes home the European Golden Shoe at the end of the season.
Bayern Munich ace Harry Kane won the European Golden Shoe in 2024, finishing with a whopping 72 points after scoring 36 goals in the Bundesliga. Who will snag the accolade this time around? SportsCasting ranks the top 10 heading into the final month of the 2024-25 season.
Who Will Win the European Golden Shoe 2025?
#10 Erling Haaland (Manchester City): 42 Points

Despite missing a good number of Premier League matches due to injuries, Manchester City ace Erling Haaland finds himself in the top 10 of the European Golden Shoe rankings. The Norwegian goalmachine has scored 21 Premier League goals in 28 appearances to take his total to 42 points. He also has three Premier League assists to his name.
Across competitions, Haaland has played 40 games for Man City, scoring 30 goals and providing four assists.
The two-time Premier League Golden Boot winner claimed his maiden European Golden Shoe in 2023, scoring 36 Premier League goals and amassing 72 points.
#9 Ousmane Dembele (PSG): 42 Points

The standout performer in Ligue 1 this season, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) ace Ousmane Dembele, is the ninth name on the European Golden Shoe rankings. The former Barcelona forward has hit the back of the net 21 times in 28 Ligue 1 games this season, scoring 42 points. Under Luis Enrique, he has also shown his creative side, claiming six assists.
With Kylian Mbappe gone, Dembele has emerged as PSG’s undisputed talisman. Not only has he shone in the French top flight, but he has also been absolutely unplayable in the UEFA Champions League. This season, he has scored eight goals and claimed three assists in thirteen Champions League appearances. If Dembele can chip in with another goal or assist, he will become the PSG player with the most goal involvements in a single Champions League campaign. He is currently tied with his countryman Mbappe (11).
#8 Mika Biereth (Sturm Graz & Monaco): 42.5 Points

The only multi-club name on the 2025 European Golden Shoe rankings, Mika Biereth, has scored 42.5 points across Austrian side Sturm Graz and Ligue outfit AS Monaco. The former Arsenal U21 player scored 11 goals in 16 Austrian Bundesliga appearances — amassing 16.5 points — before moving to Monaco in the January transfer window. He has hit the ground running in the French league, scoring 13 times (26 points) in only 14 outings.
Between the two clubs, Biereth has 42 games in all competitions across the 2024-25 season, scoring 27 goals and providing eight assists.
#7 Alexander Isak (Newcastle United): 44 Points

Alexander Isak has fired on all cylinders for Newcastle United this season, showcasing his intelligence, leadership, and ability to find a way past the tightest of defences. Over the course of the 2024-25 Premier League season, Isak has scored 22 goals in 31 matches, taking his points total to 44. He is currently in second place in the Premier League Golden Boot rankings. The Swedish forward has also provided six assists in the English top flight.
Across competitions, Isak has participated in 39 matches, scoring 26 goals and providing 6 assists.
#6 Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid): 44 Points

One of the finest forwards of the 21st century, Kylian Mbappe, joined his dream club in the summer of 2024. Many expected the Frenchman to score for fun in the Spanish capital, but with Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Jude Bellingham all chipping in with goals, Mbappe’s haul has not been as impressive. Since the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign, Mbappe has scored 22 goals (44 points) in 29 LaLiga matches. He has turned provider three times in the Spanish top flight.
Mbappe has played 51 games for Real Madrid in all competitions this season, scoring 34 goals and claiming 5 assists. Considering how impatient Madridistas can be, Mbappe must find a way to be considerably more productive next season.
#5 Mateo Retegui (Atalanta): 48 Points

Serie A’s sole representative on the list, Mateo Retegui, has amassed 48 points in the European Golden Shoe race this season, scoring 24 league goals for Atalanta. Retegui has also flexed his creative muscles, providing five assists in 32 Serie A appearances. Although he may not have a realistic chance of winning the European Golden Boot award this season, Retegui is almost guaranteed to take home the Capocannoniere (top scorer award in Serie A). His nearest rival, Fiorentina’s Moise Kean, has only scored 17 league goals in the 2024-25 season.
In all competitions, Retegui has played 45 matches, recording 27 goals and six assists.
#4 Harry Kane (Bayern Munich): 48 Points

Golden Shoe holder Harry Kane has not been at his prolific best this season, “only” scoring 24 times in 29 Bundesliga games and ranking fourth in the 2025 rankings. The former Tottenham Hotspur forward, however, has been considerably more creative than his peers in the final third, chipping in with nine assists in the top flight of German football. His heroics have helped Bayern open up an eight-point lead at the top of the table with only three games left to play.
Before the Bavarians crashed out of the UEFA Champions League, Kane was in the running for the top scorer award in the competition. In 13 outings, the England captain scored 11 goals and provided two assists.
#3 Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona): 50 Points

With 50 points on the board, Barcelona talisman Robert Lewandowski is third in the European Golden Boot rankings. The Polish sharpshooter has scored 25 goals in 31 games for the LaLiga leaders. The Pichichi leader has also contributed with a couple of assists in the Spanish top flight this season.
Lewandowski, who famously scored five goals in a manic nine-minute blitz for Bayern Munich in 2015, could have been a much more realistic Golden Boot contender had he not suffered a hamstring injury in April. He is likely to return to action by May 5.
Lewandowski has won the European Golden Shoe twice already. He won his first in 2021 after scoring a record 41 goals (82 points) for Bayern. He defended his crown the following season, netting 35 times (70 points) in the Bundesliga.
#2 Mohamed Salah (Liverpool): 56 Points

Liverpool frontman Mohamed Salah is in dreamland right now. The Reds have clinched the championship, becoming one of the fastest title winners in Premier League history; Salah is leading both the Premier League Golden Boot and Playmaker Award races, and he signed a new deal with the Merseyside outfit, committing to stay for at least two more years. To top it off, he is a close second in the Golden Shoe race, having scored 56 points after netting 28 goals. The Egypt international has also chipped in with 18 assists in 34 Premier League outings.
Across competitions, Salah has played 48 matches for Liverpool, scoring 33 goals and providing 23 assists. With four games left to play in the Premier League season and a higher coefficient boosting his score, Salah is the favourite to win the European Golden Boot in 2025.
#1 Victor Gyokeres (Sporting CP): 57 Points

Due to the lower multiplier, forwards plying their trade outside the top five European leagues fail to challenge for the European Golden Shoe. This year, however, the underdogs have a competent challenger in Sporting CP’s Victor Gyokeres. With only a handful of games left in the campaign, Gyokeres finds himself at the top of the European Golden Shoe rankings, amassing an impressive 57 points.
Gyokeres has played 30 games in the Portuguese Primeira Liga so far, scoring a whopping 38 times. He averages a jaw-dropping 1.27 goals per game — the highest across the top 10 European leagues. In 48 games across competitions, the Arsenal target has scored 52 goals and provided 12 assists.
