Galway Racing Tips: Quickfire Best Bets For ALL Sunday Races

The curtain comes down on the seven-day Galway Festival on Sunday with another monster eight-race card to get stuck into. With the action starting at 1:50pm and ending at 5:30pm, so we pick out our best Galway racing tips over the card. 

Galway Racing Tips On Sunday: Blood Destiny Can Give Mullins Another Kinlay Hostel Chase Win

Lots of competitive action on the final day of the Galway Festival on Sunday that include five handicaps and a INH Flat Race to end the card.

We’ve also got the Kinlay Hostel Chase (2:55pm), with a small but select field, that includes the Willie Mullins-trained Blood Destiny.

He’ll be looking to give Mullins a fifth win in the race since 2016.

1:50 – Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle (4yo+) 2m½f RTV

Six of the last seven winners of this race were aged 5 or 6, while it’s also been a fair race for the market leader – with three of the last four jollies winning.

Therefore, it could pay to keep an eye on the horse racing betting sites in the build-up to the race – to see which horses are fancied in the market.

Trainer John Joesph Hanlon has a good record in this race too – winning two of the last nine – and have a couple in the race PAHLAVI and HALF A CHANCE.

Both are respected, but with Half A Chance aged 6, this horse also ticks the age stat. He actually ran at the meeting on Monday too, when 7th (of 20) in a similar race and was slightly hampered that day too.

Off a pound lower mark looks interesting, while of the rest the Tony Martin runner Aurea Fortuna is another of interest having been kept fresh for this race since May.

The yard won this in 2015 too and is another 6 year-old in the race that’s down a pound from his last race.

While the obvious call and one for money has been Ragmans Corner from the Gerard Keabe yard – but looks little value.

2:20 – Kenny Galway Peugeot Handicap Hurdle (4yo+) 3m½f RTV

Coole Cherry will be popular here coming from the Willie Mullins yard with Paul Townend on too.

While recent winners Nytol, Garnacho and Greatness Awaits are others to consider coming here in-form, as is the Gordon Elliott horse Howdoyalikeherhome – the yard look to follow-up their Galway Hurdle win on Thursday.

But the call is the Joseph O’Brien runner DUKE SILVER, who was second at Killarney last time out in the middle of July. Add is the next of our Sunday Galway racing tips.

Up 4lbs for that looks fair as the first three pulled 6 lengths clear of the rest and having run on well, this longer trip (3m) will be a plus too.

2:55 – Kinlay Hostel Chase (5yo+) 2m6½f RTV

A race the Willie Mullins yard have won four times since 2016 and look to have a big chance of adding to that with BLOOD DESTINY.

This 6 year-old is the top-rated in the field at 152 and, therefore, has 5lbs in-hand on the next best Zanahiyr.

The pick comes here in winning form too after an easy 11-length success at Listowel at the start of June and a repeat of that will make him hard to beat.

Yeats Star can follow these two home.

3:30 – Lord Hemphill Memorial Handicap Chase (4yo+) 2m2f RTV

Many chances again here – including course winner Arctic Fly for Mullins and Townend, plus The Banger Doyle, CD winner Visionarian and Neveradullmoment.

However, we’ve also got the horse who was second in this last year – THE DASHER CONWAY.

Yes, he’s not won a race in thirteen and since May 2024, but is rated 10lbs lower than when running in this 12 months ago and after a third last time at Kilbeggan looks to be running back into form.

4:00 – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Ahonoora Handicap (Premier Handicap) (3yo+) 7f RTV

The McGuinness yard won this race three times between 2020 and 2022 and try again with recent Curragh winner Go Athletico. He can go well, but is up 8lbs for that last win.

Plus, the yard also run Zabriske Point.

Bravais will be popular too for Juddmonte and Ger Lyons after two fair seconds recently.

But the Natalia Lupini yard have a top record with their 4+ year-olds at the track (50% 4 from 8), so their DUNUM is the call.

Won here on Tuesday by a head and despite being up 7lbs for that is down to 7f here which will suit this horse that tends to front run.

Seamie Heffernan, who rode last time, continues in the saddle.

4:30 – Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden (IRE Incentive Race) (2yo) 7f RTV

2 year-old contest here, so not a lot to go on in terms of form.

But it’s a race the Joseph O’Brien yard have won for the last two years and so their DUKE OF CUMBERLAND is taken to take a big step forward from his debut 9th.

That came at Leopardstown in the middle of July over this trip, but would have learned a lot from that and the fact he’s out just two weeks later is another good sign.

Of the rest, the two Noel Meade runners Joltin and Bang Bang are next best – with the former the one that’s come for money.

Was a fine second on debut at Leopardstown two weeks ago and had Lucia Molly and stablemate Bang Bang back in third and fifth that day.

5:00 – Village Salthill Handicap (3yo) 1m½f RTV

Yet another tough and competitive race to unravel but with Dylan Browne McMonagle riding well at the moment he’s chanced on PALLATINE HILLS.

This 3 year-old was an excellent third at the Curragh at the end of June and is only 2lbs higher this time.

This slightly longer trip will suit too having run okay over 1m2f and 1m4f in the past and the form has been well advertised since.

Of the rest This Farh – plus Far From Dandy, Dance For Chester and Wizard Of Odds are noted from the in-form Stephen Thorne camp.

While anything Dermot Weld runs at this meeting has to be respected too – Tilani.
