Alexander Volkanovski vs Lerone Murphy Confirmed For UFC 323

Alexander Volkanovski’s next fight has been confirmed as he takes on Lerone Murphy in the co-main event at UFC 323 on December 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Although an official announcement is yet to come from Dana White or the UFC, rumours are rife that ‘The Great’ will take on ‘The Miracle’ in his next UFC Featherweight Title defence.

This comes after Murphy’s emphatic knockout of Aaron Pico at UFC 319 on the Dricus du Plessis vs Khamzat Chimaev undercard in Chicago.

The English MMA phenom knocked out the former Bellator star in Round 1 with a perfectly timed spinning back elbow to secure a ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus.

With an undefeated record of 17-0-1, Murphy is now being granted an official 145-pound title shot against the featherweight king. Should he become champion later this year, Murphy would become just the third British MMA fighter to become UFC champion.

The first was of course Michael Bisping, before Leon Edwards then won welterweight gold. Now, Murphy can add his name to that list and become the next British star to climb to the summit in the UFC.

Pre-fight odds from UFC betting sites indicate that the 34-year-old is a substantial underdog. However, Volkanovski is perhaps past his best, with Murphy possibly getting the great Australian at the perfect time.

Expect an official confirmation on the Volkanovski vs Murphy UFC 323 co-main event in the coming weeks, but it seems this is the next 145-pound title fight in a red-hot featherweight division.

Who Will Be The Volkanovski vs Murphy Favourite At UFC 323?

With Alexander Volkanovski vs Lerone Murphy set to feature as the UFC 323 co-main event in December, MMA fans are wondering what odds they could get on the bout.

‘The Miracle’ is in the form of his life right now following his emphatic spinning back elbow knockout of Aaron Pico at UFC 319. That being said, he is up against arguably the greatest featherweight in UFC history in Volkanovski.

‘The Great’ is a two-time 145-pound king, having won the belt back last time out at UFC 314. Despite being 36-years-old, ‘The Great’ is still a fairly big favourite to make a successful defence of his UFC Featherweight Title on December 13 at UFC 323.

If he does, he will further cement his legacy as arguably the greatest featherweight in UFC history. He already has seven UFC Featherweight Title victories under his belt, so adding an eighth would only add to his incredible legacy.

Although unconfirmed, a fight between the Australian and the British challenger would be an epic stylistic match-up. Both fighters are fond of their boxing and kickboxing, making for an intriguing clash on the feet.

The fight is definitely a close one on paper, but there is no doubt that Alexander Volkanovski will be a fairly comprehensive favourite to beat next challenger Lerone Murphy in their UFC 323 showdown in Las Vegas.

What an treat fans are in for in the UFC 323 co-main event, before Ilia Topuria vs Justin Gaethje headlines for the lightweight belt to round off an epic night of action at the T-Mobile Arena.

Time will tell what happens on fight night as Volkanovski vs Murphy co-headlines UFC 323 in Las Vegas on December 13.
