Mark Goldbridge Bundesliga Broadcast Rights

In a historic move, the Bundesliga has handed part of its UK live broadcasting rights to YouTuber Brent Di Cesare, famously known as Mark Goldbridge.

According to The Athletic, That’s Football, which Goldbridge hosts, and The Overlap will share a share of broadcasting responsibilities in the 2025/26 season.

The two YouTube channels will share 20 live Friday night games between them throughout the 2025/26 season. The agreement between the creators and the league is expected to run at least until the end of the season.

Bundesliga has had a long-time relationship with Sky Sports in the UK. They last signed an agreement in 2021, with Sky securing exclusive broadcasting rights for four years. The deal has now ended, opening the door to diversification.

This has allowed Bundesliga to give Friday rights to the YouTube creators, Saturday to Sky, and all Sunday games to Amazon. On Amazon, the games will be available on a pay-per-view basis.

Goldbridge to Host Bundesliga Watch-Alongs

Cashing on the popularity of YouTube content creators, the Bundesliga has become the first major European league to break tradition.

Instead of handing UK broadcasting rights over to traditional channels or streaming giants, the German top flight has chosen Mark Goldbridge-led That’s Football and The Overlap.

The Overlap has 1.5 million subscribers on YouTube, while Goldbridge’s That’s Football has 1.38 million.

As part of the deal, the channels will be able to broadcast Bundesliga’s first round of matches this weekend. The campaign gets underway with Bayern Munich hosting RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena on Friday. Bayern are 1/4 with football betting sites to win the game.

The matches will be live on YouTube for UK viewers, making it completely free to watch. However, it will not be like traditional live broadcast. Instead, it will be in a Watch Along format, allowing creators to interact with fans.

This deal could be win-win for both the league and the YouTubers. While the channels are likely to get more reach and subscriptions, Bundesliga can hope for more penetration in the UK.

The Rest is Football Broke Ground with LaLiga Deal

Before That’s Football and The Overlap made history with their live broadcasting deals, The Rest is Football became the first YouTube channel to get mainstream recognition.

Earlier in August, the celebrity-packed podcast program struck a three-year deal with LaLiga. As part of the deal, the platform will be able to show highlights of all LaLiga matches until the end of the 2027/28 season.
