Welsh darts star Gerwyn Price has issued a fresh update on his hand injury, with his involvement at this weekend’s Flanders Darts Trophy now in doubt.
Gerwyn Price Issues Injury Update
After having to withdraw from Players Championship 24 and 25 earlier in the week, Gerwyn Price has issued an update on his injury. He revealed the latest with a post on his Instagram story.
The Welshman, who has been in fine form this year, posted a photo of his very swollen hand in the hospital, accompanied by the caption: “Just what I didn’t want, back to the hospital it is.”

It comes at a terrible time for the one-time PDC World Darts Championship winner, with the Flanders Darts Trophy, Czech Darts Open and World Series Finals all in the coming weeks.
Price likely would’ve headed into this weekend’s event as one of the favourites with UK betting sites, having won the most recent tournament on the Euro Tour – the Baltic Sea Darts Open.
He sealed that title triumph with an 8-3 win over Gary Anderson in the final in Kiel last month. The 40-year-old followed that up with a quarter-final finish at the World Matchplay.
Since confirming his injury, Price has issued a further two updates.
In a follow-up post to the original, he snapped himself sitting on a chair in the hospital with a drip attached to his arm. The photo was captioned with: “Not a bed in sight.”
Then on Wednesday, with fans questioning whether he’ll be able to take part at the Flanders Darts Trophy over the weekend, Price gave another update on his injury status.
Posting a photo of a drip in his arm, he simply wrote: “Hopefully I’m fit for this weekend.”
Emojis depicting a Belgium flag and a dartboard followed, confirming that the post is in reference to the European Tour event in Antwerp this weekend.

Will Price Return In Time for The Flanders Darts Trophy?
Price is now in a race against time, with the second edition of the Flanders Darts Trophy – the 10th of 14 events on this year’s European Tour – due to start on Friday, 29 August.
The event, held at the Antwerp Expo, runs until Sunday, 31 August.
It features a field of 48 players, with Price due to head into the tournament as the 11th seed. He and his fellow seeded PDC stars receive a bye straight to the second round.
Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen, Jonny Clayton and many more are among the seeded players too. Recent Players Championship winner Stephen Bunting is also seeded, and we’ve backed him to win the event in our Flanders Darts Trophy betting tips.
The official draw and schedule will be confirmed on Thursday, 28 August, with the winner set to take home a healthy sum of £30,000. A total prize pool of £175,000 is on offer to players.
Once the draw is unveiled, we should learn more in regard to Price’s involvement status.
For now, keep your eyes peeled on his social channels as he continues to issue supporters with updates on his hand injury.
