Ruben Amorim fielded a strong XI for Man Utd’s League Cup clash with EFL League Two side Grimsby Town, featuring Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Amad Diallo. Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo were in midfield, whereas Harry Maguire led the defence.
The Red Devils were 1/7 with football betting sites to beat the fourth-tier side. However, it was the underdogs who got off to a rapid start.

Man Utd fought back in the final 15 minutes. Bryan Mbeumo scored the first in the 75th minute before Maguire netted the leveller in the 89th minute. Since there was no extra time, the match went straight to penalties.
Clarke Oduor missed Grimsby’s third penalty, giving United the lead. Matheus Cunha could have won it for the Premier League side with the final penalty, but Christy Pym kept it out. In sudden death, 15th successful spot kicks went in between the two teams before Mbeumo hit the bar, sending Blundell Park into pandemonium.
The defeat has put even more pressure on Ruben Amorim, with SportsCasting calling Jose Mourinho the favourite to replace him.
