Hakim Ziyech

Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah are plotting a late swoop to prize former Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech away from Elche’s grasp.

The LaLiga side have long been credited with an interest in Ziyech, but a move has not materialised.

Al-Qadsiah, meanwhile, are looking to add an experienced name to their attack to take the fight to Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, and Al-Ittihad.

Ziyech, 32, has been a free agent since leaving Al-Duhail in July. The rumour mill has linked many clubs with the Morocco international, but he has yet to commit.

Elche Keeping Door Open for Hakim Ziyech Transfer

Of all the interested clubs, Elche have come the closest to signing Hakim Ziyech. They held multiple rounds of negotiations with him, but could not close the deal. According to reports, Elche were discouraged by his wage demands and questionable form.

Spain is not one of the countries where the summer transfer window is still open. But since Ziyech is a free agent, they can add him to their squad outside of the window.

Elche general manager Pedro Schinocca has said any player who could improve the team was on their radar, including Ziyech.

He said (via Tribuna):

We are open to evaluating free-agent options, and this is no exception. Anyone who can improve the team will be considered, as always.

Al-Qadsiah Eyeing Summer Move for Ziyech

Elche hold Hakim Ziyech in high regard, but they have not shown the urgency to sign him. Capitalising on the opportunity, Al-Qadsiah have placed themselves as solid contenders for his services.

In their second season after earning the promotion to the Saudi Pro League, Al-Qadsiah are aiming to challenge for the title. They have brought in a host of players, including Mateo Retegui (£59.4 million), Christopher Bonsu Baah (£14.8 million), and Julian Weigl (£6.9 million).

They are still lacking a leader in attack, and Ziyech is their top priority. Al-Qadsiah want the Moroccan to form a formidable attack with Retegui and Bonsu Baah. To use his creativity and vision to bring out the best in them.

Unlike Elche, Al-Qadsiah have deep pockets, which means they are not concerned with Ziyech’s wage demands. This factor alone could persuade Ziyech to join Al-Qadsiah, as it may be the final big-ticket move of his career.

Our sources claim Qadsiah are prepared to pay him up to £10.4 million/year, which is more than double of what he earned at Al-Duhail. The move to Saudi Pro League would also allow Ziyech to better prepare for AFCON, thanks to the division’s higher difficulty.

Negotiations are expected to gather pace in the coming days.
