Dust down your Panama hats as the five-day Glorious Goodwood 2025 Festival is this week, with one of the biggest horse racing fixtures of the season this year being held over five days (Tuesday-to-Saturday).

When Is Glorious Goodwood 2025? 🗓️

Just like Royal Ascot, the Glorious Goodwood meeting runs over five days and also between Tuesday and Saturday.

The West Sussex track is often billed as the most picturesque horse racing venues in the UK and is situated just seven miles north of Chichester and ten miles from the coastal town of Bognor Regis.

The Glorious Goodwood dates this year are from Tuesday 29th July till Saturday 2nd August 2025, with the full running order and race times listed below.

What Are The Main Glorious Goodwood 2025 Races?

Over the five day Glorious Goodwood 2025 meeting there are 13 Group Class races, with three of those at the highest level – Group One.

Tuesday – Goodwood Cup (Group One)

Run over 2m, the Goodwood Cup is another of the high profile Group One ‘cup races’ staged each year where you often get horses than ran in the Ascot Gold Cup taking part.

The race was won last year by the now retired Kyprios, who was trained by Aidan O’Brien and gave the top Irish trainer his fourth win in the race.

He’s back for more this year with another strong hand as Ascot Gold Cup runner-up Illinois heads the market with the horse racing betting sites – with another O’Brien runner Scandinavia next best.

Wednesday – Sussex Stakes (Group One)

Run over 1m, the Sussex Stakes is for horses aged 3+ and is often a target for that season’s 2000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes winners.

12 months ago, we saw Godolphin’s Notable Speech win this top prize and this year all eyes will be on Field Of Gold, who is regarded as one of the best milers in the world at present.

This Gosden-trained grey was last seen winning the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot and is all the rage in the betting to add this Group One to his tally.

Gosden also won the Sussex Stakes in 2014 with Field Of Gold’s sire – Kingman.

Thursday – Nassau Stakes (Group One)

Run over 1m 2f, this Group One race is for fillies and mares only aged 3+.

Trainer Aidan O’Brien has won the pot five times – including last year with Opera Singer – and has big chances again in 2025.

He could run two in Bedtime Story and Whirl, but it’s the last-named that will attract the most interest having been second in the Epsom Oaks and then winning the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh (watch below).

The form of that win has also since been franked since with the runner-up Kalpana running well in the King George at the weekend.

She’ll face her biggest threat from the Andrew Balding runner Sea The Fire, who was an impressive winner of the Musidora Stakes at York earlier this season.

Is Glorious Goodwood on ITV Racing?📺

Yes, the ITV horse racing cameras, with Ed Chamberlin at the helm, will be showing four races live on each of the five Glorious Goodwood days.

What Is The Glorious Goodwood Dress Code? 👔

It depends which enclosure you are in, with gentleman required to wear a jacket and tie, with ladies encouraged to wear the ‘garden party’ look in the Richmond Enclosure and all hospitality areas.

The Gordon and Lennox enclosures has no formal dress code – however, racegoers are encouraged to dress smart and elegant.

Richmond Enclosure Dress Code:

Gentleman (over 16) required to wear suit jacket, long sleeve collared shirt and a tie. Plus full length trousers.

Women required to wear smart attire that is suitable for a day at the races. Sportswear is not allowed.

Children 7-15 should also dress smart – with boys having log collared shirts.

There is no dress code for under 7’s.

Gordon Enclosure Dress Code:

For Glorious Goodwood the dress code for the Gordon Enclosure will see racegoers asked to dress smart and elegant.

And also applies to the hospitality areas in the Gordon.

Lennox Enclosure Dress Code:

This is the most relaxed area of the track – there is no formal dress code.

The track encourages people, however, to dress if enjoying a picnic.

Hospitality Glorious Goodwood Dress Code:

Dress code for hospitality at Glorious Goodwood should mirror the enclosures rules above – depending on which area of the track the hospitality is in.

What Is The Nearest Train Station To Glorious Goodwood? 🚂

There is no train station at Goodwood, with Chichester train station one of the nearest (7 miles).

At Glorious Goodwood there are often shuttle busses (not free) that will take people from Chichester station to the track.
