ITV Horse Racing Tips: Five LIVE Races At Newmarket On Friday
There are a total of five races being shown LIVE on the ITV Racing schedule this Friday.
The action gets going at 1:15pm with the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes, where all eyes will be on the exciting Brussels who will be hoping to ‘sprout’ wings and give trainer Aidan O’Brien a second win in the race.
On the day we’ve also got the Oh So Sharp Stakes (1:50pm), the Challenge Stakes (2:25pm) and the Old Rowley Mile Handicap (3:30pm).
But the Friday feature is the Group One Fillies’ Mile (2:57pm) – where recent Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Precise will be a popular pick for Aidan O’Brien.
Andy Newton takes you through each of the Friday races – giving his Newmarket horse racing tips and 1-2-3 best bets.
He also has horse racing tips daily that give FOUR best bets in a Lucky 15, plus we highlight any horses that are running that won the same races last year.
Plus, you can follow Andy on his ‘X’ handle @NewtsDailyLays where he also picks out one horse each day to take on (lay) and follow him on The Final Furlong Podcast each week.

1:15 Newmarket – Newmarket Academy Godolphin Beacon Project Cornwallis Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (2yo) 5f ITV
BRUSSELS will be all the rage here having run well for much of the way over 6f in the Middle Park last time out (watch below).
The drop back to 5f will suit, having shown plenty of pace that day and that track experience on the Rowley Mile will also be a plus.
He’s the clear top-rated in the field and despite not looking the most straight-forward can grab a second career win – with his only other coming on debut at the Curragh.
Of the rest, Beckford’s Folly has been gelded since his last run and the return to the grass will suit.
But Spicy Marg is the only CD winner and had the measure of Revival Power at Goodwood two runs back and with the Power horse carrying a Group 2 penalty for winning the Flying Childers.
That said, Revival Power has improved since and winning her last two races in decent fashion and is very much respected and on the up.
However, Spicy Marg is actually meeting Revival Power on 5lbs better terms than when they last met and so there might not be much between them again.

🥈SPICY MARG
🥉REVIVAL POWER
1:50 Newmarket – Godolphin Lifetime Care Oh So Sharp Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies) Cl1 (2yo) 7f ITV
The chances of Calendar Girl will be greatly enhanced if Brussels win the previous race – with this Owen Burrows runner beating him into third in the valuable Weatherby’s Sales race at Doncaster last time.
That was also over 6 1/2f and the way she finished suggests this step up to 7f will be ideal – she surely won’t be far away from stall 2 with five of the last six coming from gate 3 or lower.
But another horse drawn low is the Roger Varian-trained CLASSIC CUVEE (3) and she also caught the eye in winning a decent maiden at Doncaster last month.
She was gusty in seeing off the promising Amelia Earhart that day – while the Varian yard have a fine record in this race with two wins in the last eight.
William Buick, who has a 38% SR on juveniles at the track, rides and he also rode one of the Varian past winners Mot Juste in 2018.
Course and distance winner Mubasimah did it well on debut and despite stepping up here falls into the ‘could be anything’ category.
But it’s interesting that the Varian yard also run Coming Attraction, who probably didn’t like the softer ground at Ayr last time.
Before that she beat Blingy’s Sister – another runner here – well at Chester and cold easily bounce back.
My old headmaster used to drum into us about the ‘three simple C’s’ – courtesy, cooperation and common sense – but we could see three more here in Classic Cuvee, Coming Attraction and Calendar Girl.

2:25 Newmarket – Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards Challenge Stakes (Group 2) Cl1 (3yo+) 7f ITV
Just the five runners which is a bit of a shame, but it’s still a decent little race with not a lot between four on the official ratings.
The French took this last year and try again with Beauvatier but you just feel his chance would be better with a bit more rain.
Connections are also trying the tongue-tie for the first time but has also only one win in his last 12 starts.
You feel Audience could pop up again – with his last win the 2024 Lennox Stakes – and has fair form at this track 1-2-3.
Cosmic Year didn’t get the best of rides last time at Goodwood in the Thoroughbred Stakes – with no room up the inside. But we know this track suits having won the King Charles II Stakes here in May.
The worry is he’s had a busy season with five runs and also just looked a bit spooked the last day when there was no room and if that experience has left a mark.
So POET MASTER gets the call as just the slightly better value and fresher horse.
He only had two runs in 2025 and his last in September was his first since March. That was a fine second at Longchamp last month on very soft ground, but can be expected to have come on for that.
Has been given a month to get over that race too and is another CD winner here, so we know the track is fine. 7f is also his trip, with all five career wins coming over this distance.

2:57 Newmarket – bet365 Fillies’ Mile (Group 1) Cl1 (2yo) 1m ITV
Legacy Link represents the John Gosden yard, who have won this race six times in the past, and was very impressive last time out at Haydock.
But that was only a Novice Stakes race and this is a huge step up into Group One company.
While I’d also question the form of that last win – with the third, fourth, sixth and seventh all losing since.
In contrast, the Aidan O’Brien yard have proven G1 winner PRECISE in the race – who ran on strongly to win the National Stakes over 7f last time (watch below).
Therefore, the step up to a mile will be just what the doctor ordered and this is also a race O’Brien has won six times.
Precise is already 10/1 for the 1000 Guineas, whereas Legacy Link is 33/1.
Of the rest, the Joseph O’Brien runner Queen Hawaii looks a tad over-priced – having done nothing wrong in winning at the Curragh and Leopardstown recently.
We know she’ll stay the mile trip will and O’Brien junior has won this race twice in the last seven too.
🥇PRECISE
🥈QUEEN HAWAII
🥉LEGACY LINK
3:30 Newmarket – bet365 Old Rowley Cup Handicap (Heritage Handicap) (GBBplus Race) Cl2 (3yo) 1m4f ITV
Some key stats here tell us eight of the last 11 winners carried 9st or less – which the top five on the card, Daiquiri Bay, Munsif, Dangerman, Respond and Yabher will have to overcome.
But stall 10 has been a hot draw, even over this longer 1m4f trip – which might be deemed a plus for the Andrew Balding-trained Respond.
Godolphin have a decent record in this too, with three wins in the last eight – they try again with Dangerman, who probably wasn’t suited by the softer ground last time at Sandown.
He could bounce back, but the small worry is the longer trip having tried it twice and been beaten both times.
A horse that actually beat Dangerman earlier this season is MINHAD and that also came here over course and distance.
That was back in May off level weights and is now actually getting 8lbs and jockey Mason Paetel can also claim another 5lbs. Meaning he’s 13lbs better off.
I also think the Harry Charlton runner WINE DARK SEA is over-priced.
The yard are going well at the moment and boast a 40% (2/5) return here with their 3 year-olds. She gets in here a low weight (8-4) too and would certainly have a chance if finding the form that saw him win at Kempton just two starts back.
