1:10 Cheltenham – William Hill Each Way Extra Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase (Gbb Race) Cl3 (4yo+) 2m4f ITV
Based on the name – I really need to be doing Newton Tornado here.
But joking aside Newton Tornado certainly has a squeak. This Rebecca Curtis runner is yet to finish out of the first three over hurdles and ended last season with a nice win at Ffos Las.
He gets in here with a nice racing weight 10-10 on his handicap debut and will be ridden by the in-form Ben Jones.
That said, DOUBLE POWERFUL just gets the nod though – a horse that has won six of his 14 career starts, one of which was at the November Meeting here last season.
He was last seen running third in a decent Grade 3 Handicap Hurdle at Aintree and is only 3lbs higher here, plus won first time out last season.
Of the res, Crest Of Fortune is also respected, while it’s interesting the Ian Patrick Donoghue yard send two over from Ireland – True Testimony and West Away.

The John C McConnell Irish yard have won this race three times in the last five years and look to have another great chance with Minella Sunrise.
But another stable from Ireland can trump him here as the Gordon Elliott runner POUR LES FILLES impressed last time when winning at Downpatrick over 2m6f – so is more likely to stay this 3m trip than some of the others.
Dan Skelton’s Great Fleet can do best of the rest after a third to Conman John and meeting him on 3lbs better terms this time.

2:20 Cheltenham – William Hill Bet Odds Guaranteed Handicap Chase (Gbb Race) Cl2 (4yo+) 3m1f ITV
Hyland who was last seen being pulled-up in the Grand National, loves this meeting – having won at it for the last two seasons.
He’s still only 8 and having gone well fresh in the past this Nicky Henderson-trained runner looks sure to be involved.
I think he can go well, but would probably not want any more rain – with his better form on a good surface.
It’s also hard to ignore the good record in the race of the Henry De Bromhead yard, having won the last two.
They run last year’s second THE SHORT GO, who is back rated 6lbs higher and could have had this as a target again.
While I also like the chances of TRANSMISSION. He is a proven CD winner here that ran 5th in the NH Chase here at the Festival in March.
Won at the November meeting too and is only 3lbs higher this time, plus was second to Hyland at this meeting last year but is 10lbs better off with that horse this time.
Of the rest, the consistent The Changing Man was runner-up in the Ultima at the Festival and is only 2lbs higher.
Plus, Rock My Way and King’s Threshold, for the in-form Emma Lavelle yard, are respected.

2:55 Cheltenham – Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle (Pertemps Hurdle Series Qualifier) (Gbb Race) Cl2 (4yo+) 3m ITV
Champion jockey Sean Bowen can do little wrong at the moment and has already ridden over 100 winners this jumps season – he’s taken to add another with LONG DRAW.
This 6 year-old was a nice winner at the April meeting here last season and does seem to like the track – with form figures at the read 2-1-1.
He also slammed Gowel Road at the December Meeting and at just 6 years-old can have more to come, despite being rated 10lbs higher than his last win.
Winning Smut for American Grand National winner Gordon Elliott and Tiny Tetley are contenders too – with the last-named finishing a place ahead of Long Draw last time at Haydock.
While Ma Shantou ran well to be 7th in the Albert Bartlett in March and comes from the red-hot Emma Lavelle yard.

It’s hard to ignore the chances here of the Gary and Josh Moore-trained GIVE IT TO ME OJ.
This 4 year-old has been in fine fettle on the flat – winning twice at Epsom last month.
He’s also 3-from-6 over hurdles and was an excellent 4th in the Boodles Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle at Aintree in April.
With the Skelton runner Loriko and Hamet’s Night with the unstoppable Sean Bowen riding next best.

4:05 Cheltenham – William Hill Extra Places With BOG “Chasing Excellence’ Novices’ Chase (GBB Race) (Class 2) (5yo+) 3m ITV
Pied Piper is a well-known face at the Festival – having been second and third in the County Hurdle in the last few years.
He’s back over fences here though, where he’s 3-from-6, but needs to bounce back from three poor starts over the bigger obstacles so is overlooked – despite the Gordon Elliott yard having won two of the last five.
So this could be best left to the the Irish with ANYWAY, who was a fine second in the Jack Richards Novices’ Chase at the Festival and is only 2lbs higher.
While INTENSE APPROACH was is another horse that won at this meeting last year – winning the a Novice Hurdle.
He’s since switched to fences – winning on debut at Galway over the summer and it looks as if this would have been his big early season target.
Jockey Alex Harvey comes over to ride and he’s got a top record on the horse – winning five times (from seven runs).
Of the rest, Leave Of Absence was a nice winner when last seen at Newbury and looks to be going the right way.

1:30 Doncaster – Skill Step Group Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 5f ITV
Many chances here, but a chance is given to last year’s close second JER BATT.
He’s got a string of bronze medals next to his name this season – but is back in this race rated 4lbs lower.
Oisin Murphy, who rode last year, is also back in the saddle.
Of the rest, Vintage Clarets was 10th last year and is off the same and seems to show his better form around this time of the year.
While the likely favourite Rosario has been running consistently since August and looks sure to make his presence felt.

2:05 Doncaster – William Hill Futurity Trophy Stakes (Group 1) Cl1 (2yo) 1m ITV
Item has impressed in his two wins at Bath and Kempton – this is a big step up, but his trainer Andrew Balding has made no secret he likes him and the yard won this in 2014 and 2019.
Oxagon enters the mix on his 5th in the Dewhurst, but trainer John Gosden has never won this.
Unlike a certain Aidan O’Brien, who has eleven wins in the race to his name – the first in 1997 with Saratoga Springs and his most recent Auguste Rodin in 2022, who went onto win the Derby the following season.
He looks to have a big chance again- having had nine entries earlier in the week – with Hawk Mountain and BENVENUTO CELLINI his their main players.
The two have been flip-flopping in the market all week with Ballydoyle plans being questions – but now they both run and Christophe Soumillon riding Benvenuto Cellini it’s no shock to see him as the clear favorite again.
He was last seen winning the KPMG Champions Juvenile Stakes at Leopardstown last month – a race Auguste Rodin won before taking this in 2022.
This Frankel colt is already as short as 12/1 for the Derby and with this race producing six Epsom classic winners – then that price can be expected to shorten if landing this.
Hawk Mountain was down the field on debut (5th) at the Curragh, but has since improved when stepped up to a mile – winning impressively twice.
He certainly gives the race some spice and could easily be the one to give AOB his 12th win in the race. It wouldn’t be the first time a Ballydoyle second or third string has won – has it.
His last win was impressive too – in the Group 2 Beresford Stakes – the same race last year’s Futurity Trophy Stakes winner Hotazhell won.
O’Brien has also won both races in the past, most recently with Luxembourg, Saxon Warrior and St Nicholas Abbey.
Then if the two main O’Brien runners flop – he’s still got Royal Lodge third Action, who could save the day.

The last six winners if this race came from gates 5 or lower – with a massive FOUR of the last five coming from stall 4, including all of the last three.
Therefore, it’s hard to ignore BOSTON DAN here.
He a good second to Division in the Rockingham Stakes last time out at York and that horse ran well (5th) in the new 2 year-old Conditions race on Champions Day at Ascot last weekend.
The other main players in the betting Spanish Waltz (1) and Lam Yai (2) are also drawn low, which has been a big plus in this race in recent years.

3:10 Newbury – BetVictor Horris Hill Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (2yo) 7f ITV
This race has been a bit of a graveyard for favourites – with only one winning in the last 20 runnings.
So I’m happy to swerve likely jolly Time To Turn for trainer Charlie Appleby, who is also yet to win this race.
That said, the way the betting is going the Crisford runner Pandemonium might even go off as the market leader – with a lot of support in recent days.
It’s easy to see why too – he heads here 2-from-2 after wins at Redcar and Yarmouth – winning easily both times, while the stable also took this in 2022.
Stellar Sunrise also looks to be going the right way after wins at Goodwood and York
The form of that York win has been franked since and this Andrew Balding runner has been freshened up since with two months off.
But the value could be MAY ANGEL, for the Gosden yard.
He was too keen in the Acomb Stakes at York last time out (5th) but before that won well at Southwell and the second Tierra Del Torro has won since.
The hood is on today to help and they’ve freshened him up with two months off. Plus the Gosden team have a fair record in this – winning it four times, with their first way back in 1992.

A lot of unknowns here – with old boys Hamish and Al Aasy certainly capable on their best form, but you just wonder is the hands of time are catching up with them.
Ancient Wisdom probably brings the best form to the table after a good second at Goodwood (neck) last time – but has no win in five now and trainer Charlie Appleby has never won this.
So this could be left to a slightly less exposed runner – with STARZINTHEIREYES fitting the bill.
This 3 year-old colt comes from the Ralph Beckett yard that seem to like this race – winning the last two – and ran 7th in the same Goodwood race Ancient Wisdom was runner-up in.
But he’s a pound better off this time and that last effort came off almost a year out, so is sure to have blown a few cobwebs away.
The Beckett team also run Revoir, which catches the eye.
