The two-day Tingle Creek meeting kicks off on Friday and to help Andy Newton is on hand with his Sandown horse racing tips – based on TWO key stats for each of the six races.
Sandown Tingle Creek Meeting Kicks-Off On Friday With Six-Race Card
No ITV Racing coverage on Friday but there’s still some decent action as the two-day Tingle Creek Chase meeting under starter’s orders.
The tape goes up at 12:35pm, with the final race at 3:30pm – that sees six races on a card with a maximum of 42 runners heading to post.
Sandwiched in the middle of the fixture are a couple of Grade Twos – a Novice Hurdle (1:45pm) that sees the return of the promising No Drama This End.
And the Esher Novices’ Chase (2:20pm), where Doyen Quest takes on Quebecois again.
Andy Newton takes a look at each race from a stats angle – to hopefully point you in the direction of a few nice winners on the afternoon.
Then it will be all guns blazing towards Saturday and the fascinating three-way Tingle Creek Chase clash between Jonbon, Il Etait Temps and L’Eau du Sud.

Sandown Horse Racing Tips On Friday: Stats Point To Nicholls and Skelton

- Trainer Gary and Josh Moore won this race in 2019 and 2017 – ZARAKERJACK and MACKTOAD
- Trainer Paul Nicholls has a 21% SR with his hurdlers at Sandown (and jockey Harry Cobden 25%) – POURQUOI PAS PAPA
The Moore team like this race.
They won the prize with Sussex Ranger (2017) and Goshen (2019), so their two runners Zarakerjack and Macktoad are interesting.
Of the two, Mactoad looks set to go off as the shorter price and makes his British debut after winning his sole race in France back in May.
While Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden operate at a 21% and 25% SR over hurdles at Sandown.
They try and enhance those stats with Pourquoi Pas Papa, who is another that is heading here from France having run second to the useful Parchment last time.

- Dan Skelton (21%) and jockey Harry Skelton (23%) with their chasers at Sandown – NORTHERN AIR
Just the five runners here but with the Dan Skelton yard winning this race for the last two years – and in 2017 – their entry Northern Air is of interest.
Jockey Harry Skelton has been on all three of their winners too.
He gets the leg-up on this Harry Redknapp-owned six year-old, who looks to have a great chance of hitting the back of the net.
1:45 – Betfair Winter Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2) (GBB Race) Cl1 (4yo+) 2m4f RTV

- Trainer Olly Murphy has a 30% SR with his hurdlers at Sandown – THE BLUE ROOM
No Drama This End is being billed as the next big Paul Nicholls superstar – so he’ll need to carry on his upward curve.
He’s already one of the Cheltenham Festival favourites for the Turners Novices’ Hurdle next March and heads here having impressed last time at Cheltenham.
This is also a race the Ditcheat yard likes to win. Landing the prize in 2019 and 2022 with Enrilo and Henri The Second.
Oh, and both were ridden by Harry Cobden, who gets the leg-up on No Drama This End.
He’s sure to be one of the big Sandown horse racing tip bankers on Friday and feature in many doubles and trebles.
Of the rest, the Olly Murphy team boast at 30% SR with their hurdlers here and run The Blue Room.
2:20 – Betfair Esher Novices’ Chase (Grade 2) (GBB Race) Cl1 (4yo+) 3m RTV

- Trainer Jamie Snowden has a 50% SR (9-18) in the last 14 days – LAURENS BAY
Doyen Quest was impressive from the front last time at Exeter and will be hoping to uphold the good SR of the Skelton yard with their chasers here.
They boast a 21% return with their recent runners and jockey Harry Skelton is also 23% riding over fences at Sandown.
He takes on Quebecois again, who was ten lengths behind Doyen Quest last time.
Of the rest, with a stonking 50% SR with his runners of late – the Jamie Snowden-trained Laurens Bay is noted too.
The yard had two more winners on Thursday and this six year-old impressed when winning on his chase debut at Uttoxeter.
2:55 – Bet At Your Best With Betfair Handicap Chase (Challenger Staying Chase Series Qualifier) (GBB Race) Cl3 (4yo+ 0-135) 3m RTV
- Trainer Nicky Henderson has a 30% SR with his chasers at Sandown – IDEAL DES BORDES
- Trainer Ben Pauling (26%) and jockey Ben Jones (29%) with their chasers at Sandown – CHAMPAGNE TWIST
One of the more competitive races on the card and with a 30% SR with their chasers at Sandown, the Nicky Henderson-trained Ideal Des Bordes is interesting.
This seven year-old also sports the first-time blinkers after being pulled up the last day at Cheltenham. Maybe they will spark him back to life.
The two Ben’s – Pauling and Jones – also have a decent return with their chasers at this venue.
They run Champagne Twist, who will be looking to land the drinks money.
He was only beaten two lengths at Aintree last time and should improve for that run (first for 10 months) and is also a course winner.

A tricky race to end the card but we’ve another Jamie Snowden runner in March d’Aligre and they can do little wrong at the moment.
He was a fair second last time at Wetherby and can be expected to improve for that after just over six months off.
The Olly Murphy yard also boasts a 30% SR with their hurdlers at the track. They send Caelan to post with Sean Bowen riding and sporting the first-time tongue-tie.
While Paul Nicholls is represented too with Courageous Strike, who looks to bounce back from a poor fifth last time at Newton Abbot.
