Sandown Horse Racing Tips: Four Races LIVE On ITV

Andy Newton's Saturday ITV Racing Tips - 6th December 2025

1:50 Sandown – Unibet Middle Distance Veterans’ Handicap Chase (Unibet Middle Distance Veterans’ Chase Qualifier) Cl3 (9yo+ 0-135) 2m4f ITV

Some old faces on show here for this veterans race, with every runner aged 10+.

Can You Call was a nice winner at Cheltenham last time in another vets race but is up 7lbs for that so has more on his plate.

While Triple Trade was also a good winner at Prestbury Park earlier this season (Nov) – however, failed to back that up off a 5lb higher mark next time.

But the safer call looks to be JET PLANE, who is taken to fly home.

This Dan Skelton runner won easily by 9 1/2 lengths last time at Leicester and a 7lb rise doesn’t look too harsh based on how he won that day.

He’s also a CD winner here at Sandown – one of just two in the field with Minella Trump – so that course experience is a further plus.

🥇JET PLANE
🥈CAN YOU CALL

🥉TRIPLE TRADE

KEY STATS 📈

  • Trainer Dan Skelton has an 18% SR with his chasers at the track
  • Trainer Evan Williams is just 1-14 (7%) with his chasers at the track
  • Jockey Harry Skelton has a 20% SR riding over fences at the track

2:25 Sandown – Unibet mares’ Hurdle (Listed Race) (Gbb Race) Cl1 (4yo+) 2m4f ITV

Sunset Marquesa was a good winner over CD here last time and looks the sort to have more to come.

But she’s still rated 125 and that’s 15lbs lower than the top-rated Jubilee Alpha and only gets 2lbs off her.

The Paul Nicholls-trained Jubilee Alpha was fifth behind Nurse Susan last time at Cheltenham – with 7 3/4 lengths between the two.

But JUBILEE ALPHA was giving away a stone that day and meets the Skelton runner on 12lbs better terms today – so is taken to reverse that form.

This is also a race the Paul Nicholls camp like to target – having won the pot in 2017 and 2020.

That said, the 9yo Nurse Susan is a useful mare though and heads here having won five of her 11 races, but this race has been won eight times in the last nine years by horses aged between 6-8.

Of the rest, That’ll Do Moss has to be noted too being rated just 2lbs lower than the pick and gets 2lbs too.

She should be better for a recent fourth at Kempton, with that coming off a seven-month break.

🥇JUBILEE ALPHA
🥈THAT’LL DO MOSS

🥉NURSE SUSAN

KEY STATS 📈

  • 9/9 – Finished in the top 3 last time out
  • 8/9 – Returned 11/4 or shorter in the betting
  • 8/9 – Aged between 6-8 years-old
  • 7/9 – Favourites placed in the top 3
  • 7/9 – Won between 2-4 times before
  • 5/9 – Winning favourites
  • 5/9 – Had run at Sandown before
  • 2/9 – Trained by Paul Nicholls
  • The last 5 winners aged 6 or 7

3:05 Sandown – Unibet Veterans’ Handicap Chase (2025 Stayers’ Veterans’ Chase Final) Cl2 (9yo+) 3m ITV

Trainer Evan Williams has won two of the last six runnings, so his recent Ludlow winner Annsam is interesting (up 5lbs).

The Honeyball yard also won this in 2020 and could have a strong hand with Credo and Gustavian, which the last-named winning well at Wincanton last time.

That was his first run back from a wind op too and despite being hiked up 8lbs to 135, still looks fairly well treated on his older form (won off 132).

Course winner Copperhead won this race last year when it was staged at Market Rasen and is back on the same mark (133).

Warwick winner Nocte Volatus is shortlisted too after an impressive win at Warwick last time out (up 5lbs).

But you feel this decent £51k pot has been on the radar of the Dan Skelton yard with LE MILOS and he is taken to leave recent runs behind.

He’s been poor in his three runs this season but has dropped to his last winning mark (140) and probably found 2m4f too sharp the last day at Cheltenham.

Add in, he’s a proven course winner and also landed a few of these vets races last year – so this looks his big race of the season to me.

🥇LE MILOS
🥈
NOCTE VOLATUS
🥉GUSTAVIAN

KEY STATS 📈

  • 8/8 – Ran in last 5 weeks
  • 8/8 – Aged 10-13
  • 7/8 – Unplaced last time out
  • 6/8 – Carried 11-3 or less in weight
  • 6/8 – 4+ wins over fences
  • 5/8 – Winners aged 11 or 12 years-old
  • 5/8 – Officially rated between 135-145
  • 2/8 – Winning favourite (joint)

3:35 Sandown – Read Nicky Henderson’s Unibet Blog Handicap Hurdle (Challenger Two Mile Hurdle Series Qualifier) Cl3 (4yo+ 0-140) 2m ITV

Dance And Glance is up 4lbs for his head win at Ascot last time out so a bit more is needed but comes here in-form and gets in with just 10-8 in weight.

Warren Greatrex’s All In You will improve for a recent second at Ascot to Dance And Glance too and meets that horse on the same terms.

Then with 40% of the last 10 winners ridden by a claiming jockey, Continuance is interesting too with Freddie Keighley in the plate (claiming 7lbs).

Brace For Landing could improve for the first-time cheekpieces for the Skeltons.

But the main one of interest is HOT FUSS, who ran a blinder behind Wilful at Ascot last time out, with the Greatwood Hurdle winner Alexei in third.

He’s only 2lbs higher and is also a proven CD winner here at Sandown.

Jockey David Bass, who was on the last day and has won on the horse before, continues in the saddle.

🥇HOT FUSS

CONTINUANCE
🥉DANCE AND GLANCE

KEY STATS 📈

  • 15/18 – Ran within the last 8 weeks
  • 15/18 – Aged between 5-7 years-old
  • 12/18 – Unplaced last time out
  • 12/18 – Carried 10-12 or less in weight
  • 2/18 – Winning favourites (2 of the last 6)
  • 4 of the last 10 winners were ridden by a claiming jockey
  • 7 of the last 10 winners returned 10/1 or shorter

Wincanton Horse Racing Tips: Three Races Live on ITV *ABANDONED*

1:30 Wincanton – Bet £10 Get £40 With Betmgm Handicap Chase (Challenger Staying Chase Series Qualifier) (Gbb Race) Cl3 (5yo+ 0-130) 3m1f ITV

Tranmission is back to his last winning mark (129) and connections are also reaching for the first-time visor in a bid to recapture some form after three average efforts this season.

But also holds an entry in Sunday’s Plumpton Sussex National.

Kelce did well to run second at Aintree the last day but is still 3lbs higher than his last winning mark.

Paul Nicholls runners here are always feared with a 25% SR with his runners over fences – he runs recent Taunton scorer Wicked Thoughts.

He’s up 3lbs for that win and with that being his first start over fences should have more to give.

But I was impressed with the way SILVER THORN got the job done at Doncaster last time – winning by 13 lengths.

He’s up a fair 6lbs for that and with the Lavelle yard boasting a solid 26% SR at the track, this is a further plus.

🥇SILVER THORN
🥈
WICKED THOUGHTS
🥉TRANSMISSION

KEY STATS 📈

  • Trainer Emma Lavelle has a 26% SR with his chasers at the track
  • Trainer Paul Nicholls has a 25% SR with his chasers at the track
  • Trainer David Pipe has a 19% SR with his chasers at the track
  • Jockey Jack Tudor is 7-28 (25%) riding over fences at the track
  • Jockey Charlie Hammond is 2-4 (50%) riding over fences at the track

2:05 Wincanton – Gamble Responsibley at BetMGM Handicap Hurdle (Gbb Race) Cl4 (4yo+ 0-110) 1m7f ITV

Purple Owl, who was third at Uttoxeter last time, is still search for his first career win but has shown some fair form to be considered for the Pipes.

Him Malaya is the only CD winner in the field and represents the in-form Paul Nicholls yard, who have a 27% SR with their hurdlers here.

He’s a pound lower than his last winning mark too and Olive Nicholls takes off a handy 5lbs too.

Three Pikes should be involved, but I liked the way PREMIER knuckled down to win at Taunton the last day and probably had a bit more in hand than the head winning margin suggests.

He’s up 8lbs here but has only had four runs over hurdles to suggest here is more to come and Sam Twiston-Davies takes over in the plate.

🥇PREMIER
🥈HIM MALAYA

🥉THREE PIKES

KEY STATS 📈

  • Trainer Paul Nicholls has a 27% SR with his hurdlers at the track
  • Trainer Syd Hosie is only 1-34 (3%) with their hurdlers at the track
  • Trainer Seamus Mullins is only 2-39 (3%) with their hurdlers at the track

2:40 Wincanton – Play Golden Goals At Betmgm Handicap Hurdle Cl4 (4yo+ 0-120) 2m5½f ITV

Got A Dream is on a three-timer after wins at Chepstow and Warwick, and heads here up 5lbs.

He has to be shortlisted and has been freshened up with two months off.

While the Paul Nicholls runner Maldini Milano is the only other recent winner in the field. Having won well at Plumpton last time and is into a handicap for the first time.

However, with ALL of the last seven winners NOT winning last time out, this is a big stat against these two.

Nicholls also runs George Henry with Olive Nicholls claiming 5lbs and is sure to be better for a recent run at Lingfield after a break.

Cruden has had a recent spin on the flat to blow the cobwebs away, but has been on the drift a tad in the market.

While the Syd Hosie yard is only 1-34 here with their hurdlers so their Moutarde is overlooked.

So, the call here in is CALL ME LEGEND, for the Hobbs/White team.

He was a close-up third last time at Taunton for today’s jockey Jack Stenhouse.

But the longer trip (2m 5 1/2f) here looks a good move after staying on well the last day over 2m3f.

Plus this also represents a slight drop in class from this last run.

🥇CALL ME LEGEND
🥈MALDINO MILANO

🥉GOT A DREAM

KEY STATS 📈

  • 7/7 – Carried 10-12 or more
  • 7/7 – Ran in the last 6 weeks
  • 7/7 – Didn’t win last time out
  • 6/7 – Won between 1-2 times hurdles
  • 5/7 – Carried 11-7 or more
  • 5/7 – Won over 2m4f+ before
  • 2/7 – Winning favourites
  • 2/7 – Ridden by a claiming jockey
