Serie A giants AC Milan could make a move for former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) midfielder Marco Verratti.Â
Verratti, one of the most decorated midfielders of the 21st century, is currently a free agent.
Milan are currently lacking long-term options in midfield after selling Tijjani Reijnders to Manchester City.
Tijjani Reijnders’ Man City Move Has Weakened Milan
Paulo Fonseca and then Sergio Conceicao oversaw a forgettable Serie A campaign for Milan in the 2024/25 season. The Rossoneri picked up 63 points from 38 matches in the Italian top flight to finish 8th in the rankings. They failed to qualify for any of the three European competitions in 2025/26.
In June, Milan took a blow as first-team star Tijjani Reijnders moved to Man City. They accepted a £46.3 million deal for their talented central midfielder.

Milan are expected to announce the arrival of Luka Modric after the FIFA Club World Cup. However, the 39-year-old cannot be a replacement for the 26-year-old Reijnders. Even the ageless Croat cannot start over 50 games for Milan in the 2025/26 season.
Milan lack the financial might to bring top-rated central midfielders to San Siro. Luckily, there is another excellent option available for Milan, and they will not have to break the bank to sign him.
Milan Could Make a Move for Marco Verratti
After running down his contract with Al-Arabi SC, Marco Verratti is now a free agent. His big-game experience, ability on the ball, and ties to Milan make him a lucrative option for the club.
Verratti is a close friend of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who works as a senior advisor to the club’s ownership and management. The former PSG pair have great respect for one another and recently took a trip together. Their mini vacation has sparked rumours of a possible reunion at San Siro.

Verratti is represented by the only woman super agent in the business, Rafaela Pimenta. Pimenta has an excellent relationship with Milan, as she has brokered multiple transfers to and from the club. Thanks to Verratti’s free agent status, negotiations should be a breeze.
Milan are not rushing the deal, having already signed Luka Modric, one of the players with the most Champions League final appearances. They can take their time and wait for the Real Madrid veteran to settle in before adding another big name to the equation.
