Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has emerged as a low-budget option for Liverpool – if they choose to replace Arne Slot mid-season.
Liverpool’s campaign is spiralling out of control.
What started as a strong title defence has turned into a nightmarish run of results.
With pressure mounting on Slot, some are calling for a change in the dugout.
The Reds’ hierarchy are thought to be carefully considering their options.
But Bournemouth boss Iraola has caught the eye as a potential successor to Slot, and could be secured for a modest fee.
Liverpool Considering Swoop For Andoni Iraola
For Liverpool, the situation is becoming untenable.
Wednesday night’s 4-1 home defeat by PSV in the Champions League wasn’t just another bad result, it broke a decades-long unwanted record.
The Reds have suffered three straight defeats by a three-goal margin (4-1 Vs PSV, 3-0 Vs Nottingham Forest, 3-0 Vs Man City).
Such a dreadful run hasn’t happened in more than 70 years.

They have now lost nine of their last 12 matches in all competitions, marking their worst spell since the 1950s.
Devoid of confidence and unable to string together a solid performance, Slot’s days could be numbered.
The next Liverpool manager odds have shortened dramatically, and Iraola’s name is increasingly entering conversations as a replacement.
Andoni Iraola Contract Situation Offer Liverpool Cheap Option
When looking at Bournemouth’s rise under Iraola, it’s no surprise to see him linked to top jobs.
The Cherries sit eighth in the Premier League after 12 games, just two points off the Champions League places.
They are firmly in the hunt for European football, and have earned plaudits from across the league.
Iraola’s structured pressing, intelligent football and ability to improve players have all caught the eye of big clubs.
And with the Spaniard’s contract expiring in the summer, the situation is difficult for Bournemouth.

Negotiations are still ongoing over a new deal, with his current contract thought to be around £1.5m per year plus bonuses.
But if Liverpool were to act now, they would only need to buy out the final six months of his contract.
Based on his reported salary, that would cost Liverpool little more than £1 million.
The affordability of Iraola is therefore a big reason the Reds may look to him as Slot’s replacement.
Another factor is the possibility of luring Antoine Semenyo to Anfield.
The Ghanaian winger has already been linked to Anfield, with Semenyo’s next club odds suggesting Liverpool are 3/1 to sign him.
But if Iraola was appointed Reds boss, those odds would likely shorten once again.
Bournemouth Still Hoping To Keep Iraola
But despite the interest from Liverpool, Bournemouth do not feel all hope is lost.
Iraola is thought to be happy on the South Coast, with the club doing everything they can to keep him.
He is immensely valued, and has been fully backed by the club hierarchy.
Any decision on his future may therefore rely on how this season unfolds.

If Bournemouth fail to qualify for Europe, the allure of a top club fighting in continental competitions may be too much to turn down.
With Liverpool sensing an opportunity, they may soon be ready to swoop.
Arne Slot is running out of time to save his job, and Liverpool’s season.
And in Iraola, the Reds have an ideal replacement, who they won’t break the bank in securing.
