Carlos Alcaraz Pulls Out Of Madrid Open With Adductor Injury and Is Major Doubt For French Open

Carlos Alcaraz has been forced to pull out of the Madrid Open with an adductor injury and the Spaniard is now a doubt for the French Open.

Why Has Carlos Alcaraz Pulled Out Of Madrid Open?

The Spanish tennis star will pull out of the Madrid Open after suffering an adductor injury in his 7-6 6-2 defeat to Holger Rune in Barcelona.

Alcaraz spoke on the issue he is facing with an adductor injury and revealed that he will now miss out on the Madrid Open.

He said: “I’m really disappointed I’m not able to play here in Madrid. It’s a place I really love playing. It was a really difficult situation, a really difficult to decide not to be able to play, but it is what it is.

“Tennis is really a demanding sport playing week after a week, so many matches in a row, and you have to hear your body sometimes and take difficult decisions. 

“I will come back stronger and with a lot of power for the next tournaments. If not, the next tournament is Roland Garros for me. I will try to be on court as soon as possible.”

The Spaniard is hoping for a speedy return and claims he is not worried about the adductor issue, stating it could take a week or two to recover.

Will Carlos Alcaraz Miss French Open?

Competing at the French Open is now up in the air, with the competition set to begin on May 25th and the Italian Open is reportedly a major doubt as it begins on May 6th.

However, as previously mentioned Alcaraz believes it will only take a couple of weeks to recover meaning he should be fit for the upcoming tournaments.

Alcaraz will be pushing for a return at the French Open as he looks to defend his title and improve on his poor start to 2025.

The 21-year-old was beaten in the quarter-final of the Australian Open and lost in the semi’s of Indian Wells against Jack Draper.
