Cheltenham Horse Racing Trainer Stats

As we head towards another top jumps fixture at Prestbury Park – having an in-form stable can often help when hunting out the winners. So we look at some of the top Cheltenham trainer stats and red-hot yards going into the three-day meeting.

Cheltenham Trainer Stats: Which Yards Are Heading To The November Meeting In Good Form?

JAMIE SNOWDEN (10 wins from last 21 runners, 48%)

Jamie Snowden
Jamie Snowden is a top Cheltenham November Meeting trainer to look for this week.

Based in Lambourn, the Jamie Snowden yard are the first top Cheltenham November Meeting trainer to have on your radar.

Having fired in 62 winners last jumps season, they are on course to smash that – with 42 (and counting) already.

In fact, it feels hardly a day goes by without at least one Snowden winner at the moment. Including firing in a top Kempton double on Monday.

The only niggle is that despite their overall top form in recent weeks, they are only 4-43 here at Cheltenham.

That said, he did have one of his biggest career wins at this meeting in 2022 when Ga Law landed the Paddy Power Gold Cup.

DAN SKELTON (18 wins from last 70 runners, 26%)

Having just missed out on the British trainers title last season to Willie Mullins – it seems Dan Skelton is going full steam ahead to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

He’s already sent out 61 winners (as of 11th Nov) and won just over £916k.

Last year he amassed £3,352,540 – so is already over a quarter of the way to matching this.

Skelton, who had two winners at the October Meeting, is having a good time of it of late too – with a treble up at Carlisle on Monday.

He also had four winners at this meeting last year, so is certainly a top Cheltenham trainer to look for this week.

Last year’s Greatwood Hurdle second Be Aware (Arkle Trial) and L’ Eau du Sud (Shloer Chase) are a couple to note.

Plus these are two of many past Cheltenham November Meeting winners from last year that are back for more.

He could also have three Paddy Power Gold Cup runners on Saturday (Hoe Joly Smoke, Riskintheground and Panic Attack) – as he looks for his first win in the race.

Skelton will come into the meeting with a 13% overall SR at the track, which improved to 17% with only his chasers.

ANTHONY HONEYBALL (18 wins from last 70 runners, 26%)

Leave Of Absence was a nice winner for the Anthony Honeyball yard at the Cheltenham Showcase Meeting last month and is entered to run in the Novices’ Chase (2:20pm) on Friday.

They also had a top weekend last Saturday with their Gustavian winning the Badger Beers Handicap Chase at Wincanton.

With their good overall form, they will be looking to improve their average 8% (2-26) SR at Cheltenham.

SAM THOMAS (5 wins from last 9 runners, 56%)

Trainer Sam Thomas is regarded as one of the best-looking trainers around – you can decide on that for yourselves.

But what we do know at the moment is his horses are certainly ‘looking good’.

Their current strike-rate make them one of the most in-form yards around at the moment.

Steel Ally was another nice winner for the Welsh-based stable at Carlisle on Monday.

Therefore, anything they run this week at Prestbury Park (or anywhere) has to be respected.

Vincenzo looks to be one of their big players – who is a leading Paddy Power Gold Cup runner on Saturday.

Plus, could also run last season’s Welsh National runner-up Jubilee Express in the Handicap Chase on Sunday (2:55pm).

Former Cheltenham Gold Cup winning jockey Thomas will be hoping his good current form can improve his 6% SR (2-31) at the track.

BEN PAULING (11 wins from last 38 runners, 29%)

The Ben Pauling horses don’t have to travel far to get to Cheltenham – being based at Naunton – and with the team in good form, they are respected this week too.

Twig and Our Boy Stan were two nice winners for the stable on Saturday too. The former could also be back in action at Cheltenham too.

He’s entered in the Veteran’s Chase on Friday (1:45pm).

Pauling, however, is yet another that will be looking to his good overall form to improve his track stats.

His Cheltenham trainer stats are just 7-116 (6%) heading into the November Meeting and only 1-53 over hurdles.

HARRY DERHAM (8 wins from last 21 runners, 38%)

The former assistant of Paul Nicholls, Harry Derham is having a nice season – with 19 winners already.

These have also come from only 59 runners and he’s coming into this week’s Cheltenham November Meeting with a 35% SR.

Jackie Hobbs and Katie’s Melody have been two impressive winners for the Derham camp over the last week.

So their possible Cheltenham runners this week – Brentford Hope and One Horse Town – are worthy of second looks if lining up.

PAUL NICHOLLS (8 wins from last 40 runners, 20%)

The 14-time British Champion jumps trainer Paul Nicholls needs no introduction – and he’ll be armed with many Cheltenham runners this weekend.

Nicholls fired in only one winner at the fixture last year – but that came in the big race, the Paddy Power Gold Cup with El Ridoto.

This horse is back to try and retain his crown too as one of the main Paddy Power Gold Cup runners. This will be his fourth run in the race.

He finished third in 2023 and fourth in 2024.

While if he can go in again will be the first ‘back-to-back’ winner since Bradbury Star in 1993/94.

Nicholls has sent out 36 winners this season so far and could also have Isaac Des Obeaux (Fri) and No Drama This End (Fri) in action this week.

The overall Nicholls Cheltenham trainer stats this week are 11%, that increase to 13% with just his chasers.

NICKY HENDERSON (3 wins from last 19 runners, 16%)

Okay, the recent trainer stats for Nicky Henderson are hardly anything to get jiggy about.

However, there are certainly signs bubbling that the Seven Barrows team are about to hit top gear.

They were sent out three winners at the Cheltenham November Meeting last season with Hyland, Peaky Boy and Jonbon.

With the last-named one of the stars of the fixture this week as he tries to win the Shloer Chase for a third time on Friday.

The overall Henderson Cheltenham trainer stats are 16%, but these are upped to 19% with only his chasers.

He could be in for a big weekend.

But regardless, they are sure to be a yard that will start to rumble in the coming weeks.
