Former Celtic star Chris Sutton has predicted Manchester United will beat Burnley in their Premier League meeting at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Man United are without a win in the Premier League. They have lost against Arsenal on opening day and drew 1-1 with Fulham on Matchday 2.
The Red Devils are coming into Saturday’s game on the back of an embarrassing EFL Cup defeat to fourth-tier side Grimsby Town. The game finished 2-2 before Grimsby beat them on penalties.
Newly promoted Burnley, meanwhile, have been in much better form. They have lost one and won one match in the Premier League and beat Derby County 2-1 in their EFL Cup Round 2 clash.
Man Utd are still favoured to win on Matchday 3. Ruben Amorim’s side are 3/8 with UK betting sites to beat Burnley at home.
Chris Sutton Predicts a Man United Win vs Burnley
Chris Sutton appeared underconfident while making a score prediction for Man United vs Burnley. He did not know what to make of this tie, but backed the Mancunians to respond to their EFL Cup exit to Grimsby Town.
“I haven’t got a clue with this one, nothing would surprise me,” Sutton wrote in his BBC column.
“I don’t think there’ll be a lot of goals in this game, but surely Manchester United need to bounce back with some kind of statement?”
He continued:
“It’s a bad week for United. They were played off the park by Grimsby in the first half and were ultimately humiliated. I know Ruben Amorim made eight changes, but he threw the big guns on in the end, and you don’t know what sort of impact that loss will have across the club.
🚨Man Utd, a shadow of its former self under the Glazers and Ratcliffe. Crippled by debt and poor decisions. Only a takeover by owners like Qatar 🇶🇦 can restore the club's greatness and honor the fans. Time for change! #GlazersOut #RatcliffeOut #QatarIn pic.twitter.com/3mitAMcpQI

“After Grimsby, I think Amorim is under huge pressure. Burnley will be stubborn and resolute, and they do carry an attacking threat. Will Manchester United find a way? Something’s telling me to pick United to win, but I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Burnley embarrassed them.“
Chris Sutton’s Prediction: Man United 1-0 Burnley
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is under insurmountable pressure after the defeat to Grimsby Town. Bookmakers see a real possibility of him getting sacked, with Jose Mourinho emerging as the favourite to replace him.
