Cole Palmer Given Hero’s Welcome In St. Kitts Following Club World Cup

Chelsea and England star Cole Palmer was given a hero’s welcome upon his arrival in St. Kitts and Nevis on Monday, fresh off the back of winning the Club World Cup in the United States.

Palmer scored twice and assisted in the final as the Blues ran out as 3-0 winners over European champions Paris Saint-Germain at the MetLife Stadium in New York on Sunday night.

The 23-year-old won the Golden Ball, awarded to the tournament’s best player, receiving the accolade from President Donald Trump. He was also named in the Team of the Tournament.

He contributed with three goals and two assists in six Club World Cup matches.

Wasting no time, Palmer has jetted off to St. Kitts and Nevis for a family holiday. He is due to return to London on 4 August for pre-season before the Premier League restarts next month.

He was greeted with an authentic Kittian welcome by Masquerade performers upon arrival and met with Deputy Prime Minister Geoffrey Hanley and Tourism Minister Marsha T Henderson.

St Kitts Prime Minister Terrance Drew reacted to Palmer’s visit by saying: “Cole Palmer’s visit to St Kitts and Nevis is a powerful reminder of the strength and pride of our diaspora.

“His presence and mentorship will inspire the next generation to believe that global success is possible, no matter where you come from.

“We are proud to welcome him home and deeply grateful for his commitment to our young people and to the development of sports in our federation.”

What is Cole Palmer’s Connection to St. Kitts and Nevis?

Palmer’s connection to St. Kitts and Nevis has been no secret over the years.

His football boots have often been seen sporting both the England flag, his country of birth, and the St. Kitts and Nevis flag, as his grandfather Sterry was born in the island nation.

Due to this, Palmer was eligible to represent the nation internationally prior to playing for the Three Lions.

“Landing in St Kitts off the back of winning the Club World Cup felt really special,” Palmer said.

“It’s where my grandad’s love for football started. The island’s beautiful and really chilled. I can’t wait to explore the mountains, rainforest and sea – and to try out the food.”

Palmer and the Blues face the shortest pre-season of any English top-flight club, with just two games scheduled. They take on Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan on the 8th and 10th of August.

Following that, Chelsea’s Premier League fixtures see them host Crystal Palace on opening weekend.

The best cash out betting sites have the West Londoners as the fourth favourites to win the league title this year, priced at around 8/1, behind Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City.
