Dundee United have agreed a multi-year deal with QuinnCasino, extending their commercial partnership with the online betting and iGaming brand.
Front-of-shirt sponsorship by gambling firms is to be outlawed in the English Premier League from next season.
But the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea all still benefit from having the likes of Betway as official betting partners on board.
Clubs in the Scottish Premiership rely on lucrative sponsorship deals from the gambling industry for vital financing.
That situation is unlikely to change as even the sport’s governing body benefits from backing by a popular betting brand.
William Hill is the title sponsor of the top four divisions of the Scottish Professional Football League after signing a five-year deal from the start of the 2024-25 season.
Of the 12 SPL clubs there are three that carry the names of betting companies on the front of their shirts, Dundee United, Celtic and Rangers.
Hibernian displays the name of sports betting app SBK as its shirt sleeve sponsor.
Dundee United And QuinnCasino
Dundee United first linked up with the UK and Ireland family-run brand in the 2022-23 season, when it replaced Eden Mill as front-of-shirt sponsor.
The long-standing agreement between Dundee United and QuinnCasino has also seen the operator support responsible gambling and awareness initiatives across the club’s official platforms.
Mark Cunningham, Head of Commercial and Sponsorship at Dundee United, confirmed the extended collaboration.
“We are very pleased to agree this multi-year extension with QuinnCasino on improved commercial terms,” he said.
“They have been a long-standing and trusted partner of the club, and their continued support is greatly appreciated.
“This agreement reflects the positive working relationship we have developed with the team and our shared approach to delivering a responsible and sustainable partnership.”
Stephen Kelly, Managing Director at QuinnBet, said: “The club has a passionate supporter base and a clear vision for the future.
“We are proud to continue our association as a long-term partner and remain fully committed to promoting safe and responsible gambling alongside our work with the club.”
Celtic And Shirt Sponsor Dafabet
Celtic have displayed much more stability in their choice of shirt sponsor than they have in managers.
We wait to see whether Martin O’Neill’s second interim stint at Parkhead will lead to him becoming next Celtic manager.
Dafabet has been the longest front-of-shirt sponsor in Celtic’s history.
The online betting and gambling site made its hooped debut at the start of the 2016-17 season.
Its HQ is in the Philippines but it holds a UK gambling Commission license so can operate in the UK.
The collaboration was renewed in December 2024 to run for another three years.
Rangers And Kindred Group (Unibet and 32 Red)
Rangers and the Kindred Group have another firmly established alliance that began in 2014.
The online gambling operator owns nine brands, including Unibet and 32Red.
An initial three-year deal saw 32Red become Rangers’ front-of-short sponsor for the club’s return to the Scottish Premiership in the 2014-15 season.
A new agreement with Kindred Group kicked in for the 2024-25 season.
Unibet took over as sponsor of the first-team shirt while 32Red became the training and warm-up kit sponsor.
Hibernian And Sleeve Sponsor SBK
Hibernian signed a two-year deal with SBK from the start of the 2024-25 season.
The collaboration means the mobile sportsbook will be first-team shirt sleeve sponsor until June 2026.
SBK is part of sports betting company Smarkets.
The partnership runs along similar lines to other commercial deals, with SBK branding displayed around Hibs’ ground at Easter Road.
