Matchroom Boxing Chairman Eddie Hearn has confirmed he will be suing Chris Eubank Jr.

Hearn was in disbelief at comments made my Eubank Jr at Wednesday’s launch press conference for the Conor Benn rematch, and will be taking legal action against ‘Next Gen’.

Eddie Hearn Confirms He Will Be Suing Chris Eubank Jr

After comments made at Wednesday’s launch press conference in London, Eddie Hearn has confirmed he will be suing Chris Eubank Jr.

Eubank Jr came face-to-face with arch nemesis Conor Benn for the first time since their classic showdown on April 26 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which resulted in a unanimous decision victory for ‘Next Gen’.

The Eubank Jr vs Benn rematch is set for Saturday, November 15, once again at Spurs’ stadium. As the winner of the last fight and naturally bigger man, Eubank Jr will once again be favourite with boxing betting sites to come out on top in their rematch.

At Wednesday’s press conference for the rematch, it wasn’t Eubank and Benn going back and forth that made the headlines, but instead Eubank’s claims about Matchroom Boxing.

The 36-year-old made various accusations and claims about Matchroom and Eddie Hearn. Since then, Hearn has confirmed he will be suing Eubank Jr for his comments:

“Chris Eubank Jr has just made the wildest accusations and the mask is slipping,” said Hearn.

“What he has accused us [Matchroom] of is unforgettable. When you are as serious about your company as we are and what it means to us, trust me, we’ll deal with that.

“I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Me and my Dad haven’t worked our entire lives to achieve this reputation in the sport, for Chris to then make up lies about our company,” Hearn concluded.

Eddie Hearn/Matchroom Boxing Taking Legal Action Against Eubank Jr

With confirmation from Eddie Hearn that he will be suing Chris Eubank Jr for his comments at the launch press conference for the Conor Benn rematch, Eubank Jr could be in a bit of trouble.

Eddie Hearn’s net worth has reached £50m+, which is all down to the success of him and his Dad’s company Matchroom Boxing. It’s fair to say Hearn didn’t take too kindly to Eubank Jr’s comments, hence why he is now officially taking legal action.

It remains to be seen what comes of these proceedings, but it doesn’t look like it will be a positive outcome for ‘Next Gen’.

Eubank Jr has been critical of Eddie and Matchroom in recent years, relentlessly calling Hearn a ‘scumbag’. Although that is something Hearn can clearly take on the chin, defamatory comments about his company simply cannot be ignored.

In an interview for DAZN with Ben Shalom beside him, Hearn told the Boxxer founder and Eubank Jr’s promoter that he would be hearing from Matchroom within 48 hours due to Eubank Jr’s comments.

As of yet, there has been no confirmation as to what will come of these legal proceedings. Eubank Jr accused Matchroom of being corrupt and having the British Boxing Board of Control ‘in their pockets’.

This isn’t something that can be swept aside as far as the Hearn is concerned, hence why he is suing Eubank Jr.

With Chris Eubank Jr’s next fight another mammoth rematch with bitter rival Conor Benn, being sued is probably the last thing he needs as he prepares for another colossal night of boxing on November 15.
