Tyler Weaver US Open

English amateur golfer Tyler Weaver will compete at the US Open after earning a spot via the gruelling qualifying tournament.

The 22-year-old earned a qualifying spot for the tournament at Oakmount, Pennsylvania.

Weaver, along with other US Open hopefuls, played 36 holes at 10 venues across the US and Canada.

Successful qualifiers earn one of 47 spots in the tournament, which gets underway on 12 June.

Finishing tied for third, Weaver became one of three amateurs to qualify in Atlanta.

Seventeen-year-old American Mason Howell won that qualifier, while past Major winners Jason Dufner and Zach Johnson missed out.

Tyler Weaver Says US Open Qualification His ‘Biggest Achievement’

Speaking after his qualification, Weaver was delighted to have reached his first Major.

“This is definitely up there with my biggest achievement,” he said.

“Playing in a major championship is a dream of mine, and it still hasn’t quite sunk in that I will be teeing it up at Oakmont.”

In preparation for the US Open, Weaver will take part in the Arnold Palmer Cup in South Carolina.

That tournament runs from 5-7 June, with him then heading to Oakmont.

“I am extremely lucky to have the support network that I do, and none of this would be possible without them,” added Weaver.

“My family are just as excited as I am.”

Who Is Tyler Weaver?

Tyler Weaver is the son of former Flat jockey and ITV Racing pundit Jason Weaver.

Jason rode more than 1,000 winners in a lengthy career, including the 1994 2000 Guineas on Mister Baileys.

With aspirations of becoming a pro golfer, Tyler Weaver headed stateside for university.

Originally from Suffolk, he currently attends Florida State University. In March, he won the Cabo Collegiate title in a play-off.

That victory earned him exemption into the World Wide Technology Championship PGA Tour event, which will be held in Mexico in November.

In April, he finished second at the ACC men’s college championship, and has represented England at the 2024 European Team Championship.

When Is The US Open 2025?

It’s a special year for the US open in 2025. The prestigious tournament is celebrating its 125th edition.

As the flagship tournament of the United States, U.S. Open Oakmont Country Club tickets are particularly sought after.

The 72-hole tournament is scheduled for 12-15 June. It will be held at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania.

The Us Open field is made up of players who, like Weaver, gained entry through qualifying events.

But there are also those who are exempt from qualification. Exemption criteria includes recent Major winners and leading players in the World Rankings.
